All-Seater Stadiums

Most Football Stadiums in England, Spain and The Netherlands/Holland are all-seater stadiums with English FA Premier League and FIFA World Cup qualifying matches requiring that all spectators be seated during games. This rule has mainly been brought in since the Taylor Report, which gave recommendations to improve stadium safety after poor stadium design where some or all sectators stand to view the game contributed to distaters such as Hillsborough and Heysel.

The first all-seater stadiums were in Scotland where wooden benches were bolted to exposed terraces at both Clydebank's Kilbowie Park and Aberdeen's Pittodrie Stadium which was later declared the Scotland's first all-seater, all-covered stadium.
