You’ll most likely find me on LinkedIn
LinkedIn Top Voice in technology in 2020, and many other things since then.
But what matters is bringing value, common sense, acting for good, aiming at privacy and security by design and by default.
Yet, I maintain my own server and blog here, because it allows me to own my content as well.
Anyways, to find me on LinkedIn, it’s here : https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexandre-blanc-cyber-security-88569022/
I use the domain inforeseau.com as my email domain as well, for my blog and other activities. It used to be the domain of my company in the early 2000s, and I kept it since then.
I did start my business as « Alexandre Blanc Cyber« , in cyber security and LinkedIn consulting services.
Basically splitting my time between security advisory and assessments, and consulting on LinkedIn success management.
I have a few slots for LinkedIn consulting, including LinkedIn page management, and acting as influencer etc. Obviously, this is a limited amount of slots as I commit to deliver value for my customers, but also keep time for the cyber security side of things. Feel free to reach out on LinkedIn or via email at alexandre at inforeseau.com
The Russian roulette landing page !
Well, if you ended on here, either some search engine indexed it (they really have nothing to do !), and then, fine, BUT MOST LIKELY, YOU SCANNED MY EVIL QR CODE !! Moouahahahahahahahahah
Well, you should never scan a QR code not knowing exactly where it takes you, and obviously, you can’t know, so never scan QR code. They can embed malware and poison your device just by scanning it.
Then all your data is stolen, and I bet you use the same device to access your bank account so it would be corrupted as well, not even speaking about these photos you recently sent…. no… not this one… you know exactly the one I speak about !
So, stop scanning QR codes and follow me on linkedin ! :P
RTSP, Debian, VLC, not playing, IP Camera
This is a quick memo I did want to keep track of.
If you have home security cameras, or anything that support RTSP (network video streaming), AND you use Kali linux, Debian, or any derivatives such as ubuntu, you’ll face an issue as RTSP is not longer supported withing the system.
So if you need to open a network video stream, on Debian, Kali or whatever, you can use the snap package of VLC, so as it comes with all the needed resources.
Install snapd on your machine, and from there, you can install VLC : snap install vlc
Now you need to add the snap binary directory to your PATH variable, so as you can actually used the snap packages you installed as root (or using sudo).
On Kali / Debian, assuming you use BASH as shell, you can simply add the following to your .bashrc file in the root foldre of your home (usually /home/your-user/.bashrc) : export PATH=/snap/bin:$PATH
Then open a new terminal / console, and you should be able to start VLC by typing vlc.
And then you’ll magically be able to open your RTSP stream such as rtsp://ip_of_your_camera
Enjoy.
