Established in 1999, the San Francisco Dragon Warriors is the largest competitive Dragon Boat racing team in the San Francisco Bay Area. We offer excellence to our members and our community. By having fun and competing together our members will develop meaningful lifelong relationships. We welcome all who seek to challenge themselves within the sport of Dragon Boating.

DW has a history of traveling around the world to compete at other festivals and participate in the positive and spirited dragon boat community. Closer to home, DW is a proud member of the California Dragon Boat Association (CDBA) the largest dragon boat association in the San Francisco Bay Area.

DW has been extremely active in promoting the sport, culture, and awareness of dragon boating. Our members are actively involved in the local, regional, and national levels of dragon boating as we hope to give back to the sport we have so enjoyed.

A team can only be as good as each of its members desire it to be. Our success has been created from the generous and spirited efforts of each of our members and the collective effort to work together. With an active membership of anywhere from 130-140 members, DW always welcomes new members. We welcome all but have found that positive-minded, individuals who seek to improve and learn as well as contribute what they can have toward the spirit of competition and fun fit in immediately.

Tek was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He started paddling as a sophomore in high school with Mission Dragon Boat in 2006. He continued on to paddle with Stanford Dragonboat, California United, and finally Dragon Warriors. He raced as a part of Dragonboat Team USA U24 in Tampa 2011 as well as Welland 2015. He also raced with California United for Club Crew in Ravenna 2014.

Dragon boat means having an active lifestyle and being part of a wonderful community. Being on a boat with 19 other paddlers means there is a high level of trust and synchronization to be successful. Tek loves the atmosphere and he enjoys the competition.

Outside of being a dragon boat coach, Tek is an elementary school teacher. He brings a lot of his teachings and learnings in both the dragon boat world and the classroom. He also paddles surfski and outrigger canoes. His favorite food is a 4×4 animal style In-n-Out burger with well-done fries. One thing you might not know about Tek by looking at him is that he used to wrestle and run track & field in high school.
