David Lakirovich

At the tender age of 4, David Lakirovich is already continuing a proud family tradition.

David is the son of a music teacher and nephew of the principal of Brisbane's Stoliarsky School of Music.

His father, Jacob, 36, has been playing the violin for 30 years.

Mr. Lakirovich said that as a parent he was obviously proud of David's musical achievements.

But as his teacher, he noted that David was "doing excellently".

David, who will make his debut concert performance next week, is one of the youngest students of the school and has been studying music since the age of 3.

On Monday he will perform with other students at a concert at the school, at Hill End, from 7pm.

Mr. Lakirovich said he could not tell if David was destined for a music career.

"It is very hard to say," Mr. Lakirovich said. "It will very much depend on him."

But music is not the only challenge for David - while he is fluent in his father's native tongue, Russian, he is busily improving his English in preparation for school.
