Talking Planning to set Guinness World Record for longest rc car jump.

Hi All,

New to the forum, came here for some help.

I am planning to set a Guinness World Record, for the longest car jump, i searched the interenet for any current records.

I came across Richard Saxton:

i would put the link but i am not at the limit to do that yet search youtube for world record rc car jump.

The above video shows Team Associated’s Richard Saxton set the World Record at 137.3 feet for the longest radio controlled car jump with a Team Associated RC8B nitro powered buggy.

We plan to beat this current record using just a 6 foot ramp, still working with the best angle of the ramp we have come to the conclusion that the remote control car needs to be achieving speeds in excess of 65MPH.

I need somewhere to do this jump i have phoned around local parks but none seem interested, insurance for the event is not a problem and neither is getting the press involved.

Thanks in advance guys.

Regards,
Richard

There must be a mall around you with a big parking lot. You obviously will have to ask for their permission. Ask you lhs to help you out as well. Good luck. Keep us posted/
What are you planning to use?

Either way you have to go along ways!

I jumped a bone stock buggy with stock gearing 98 feet, so your gonna have to have some special gearing!

Good luck!

Default question

I have a question but I dont want this to start a big argument. Wasn't Richard Saxtons jump done on a flat surface? Don't get me wrong Adams jump was amazing but there was a small downhill slope leading up to the ramp.

what adam drake jumped wasnt even a buggy, unless buggies now have a 370mm wheelbase and the car didnt land on its wheels and drive away.
Its like when robby k jumped the grande canyon yeah he made the distance but no way was he walking away from the landing.

I didn't see adam's jump that was interesting, ill have to sort something a little special out for this its proving more challanging than exspected.

I'd based all my research on Richard's jump the ramp is too high and the car looses mometum almost instantly. So i thought a 6 foot ramp with a long take of may give me that edge but in Adams video the ramp looks like what i was planning to use.

I have contacted Guinness World Records and i am waiting for a reply for rules etc. I got a phone call from a building company saying i could use the site before they carry work on building the Tesco so it will be flat gravel/dirt terrain.

I have been practicing with a VRX-2 but i doubt its up to scratch for the jump, but i have an ace up my sleeve with a 1/10th scale off road car capable of 74MPH.

This is going to be harder than i exspected.

Default Drive away.

Anyone can go at ball-breaking speed and hurl their cars into the air just to come crashing down in a big pile of twisted metal. I think the only way it should count is if you drive away from it.

Thumbs up Professional Jump

Sounds like fun. What you going to use for the jump Buggy/motor ?
The engine is a 21 ABC Pro Engine 3.5cc

I agree with you, it has to be professional it is costing quite abit to get the landings right. On the other hand i do need more speed compaired to what i have been practicing with (THE XRX-2) with a go.21 engine.

Gmack, it had a dip but he did come somewhat uphill...but whatever needed to obtain a "top" speed.

Adam also made the jump with a "buggy" it did have a truck chassis on it but everything else was normal.

Also he has tested again as have I. I have landed on a ramp much much more than 150' so this year at the PNB we will do it again

Hmmm...

On the video I watched he did the same thing Richard did...

Landed, bounced, tumbled, and drove it away. It seems I watched adam jump 2-3 times, the last time he killed the engine.
