Honestly, I did not see this one coming. This album is hot. Shawty is a Ten is actually one of my least favorite songs along with I Love Your Girl, so I thought the album started off decent, but once Fast Car kicked in, DAMN the album was bumpin. She Needs my Love, Falsetto, Playin In Her Hair, Purple Kisses, Ditch That, ... I mean the rest of the album was bumpin. The song for Mama was real nice too, no doubt, even though there was a lot of electronic sound in it. I think he's a strong songwriter, singer and producer. Yeah, some things throughout the album were a little redundant like the "ay's" and stuff, but that's a minor thing. He got some dance tracks, some good mid tempo to slower tracks. The album is different (and short) enough to stay interesting, but not so different to make it seem disjointed and more like a compilation. I'm glad as hell I got it cause I stay bumpin The Dream now, man. He didn't even have crazy famous guest appearances or nothing, just held it down himself the whole album. I wonder what's next from this dude.

If I had to pick out some favorite songs, I'd have to say my favorites are Fast Car, Falsetto, She Needs My Love, Nikki, Ditch That..., Playin In Her Hair and Purple Kisses... Enough? lol

From the first song "Shawty Is Da Sh*!" to the very last one "Mama". It is easy to see that the Dream is all about it and for real on his debut cd. Its great to see an artist already be an established song writer and producer have done both for more than a few artists most recently Chris Brown recently. I didnt have a clue as far as how "Lovehate" would turn out but if its indication. This cd will be one to get for the rest of this year and next as well.

So far one of the best R&B albums I have heard in a while. This guy has a lot of infectious melodies that it is no wonder how he effortlessly makes hits for other artists as well. Also big props for the mixing of the album, each song goes into the next in such a nice flow that it makes this album a pleasure to listen to from beginning to end. I highly recommend this album for those who are willing to take a shot on a new talented artist.

There are many albums that try to have somewhat of a story attached to the songs, but what The Dream does is far superior. Every song flows into the next, with good production, and meaningful lyrics.

The good thing is too, the tempo changes, so you know that you progressed into another. Not constant slow jams, such as from "Fast Car" to "Nikki" to "She Needs My Love".
