Denny, Wolf & everyone!
A bit foggy & misty outside today - but sun trying to break through.
Have fun at your basket weaving class, Mary! I took a basket weaving class one time only because a friend wanted to learn. She hated it. I loved it! Wouldn't mind taking another class!

2:02. Well there's a cute smiley face to start our day! Good Morning Denny, Wolf, Shiela, DorA, Anne, Kathy and to everyone still to come.

We're, what?, 350 miles from Mt. St Helens, DorA? And yet our rattly old house in Vancouver still felt a 'Whump' from it. At first I thought Linda's mom, who lived with us then, had knocked over something extremely heavy, like a full chest of drawers, upstairs. (And, four weeks later, friends in Manitoba were still complaining about getting ash from it on their cars). Quite a lifetime event for us here in rainforest country...

Hi, all!
The eruption was a big event even for us on the east coast. All the ash in the atmosphere cooled our temperatures pretty significantly. Reminds us how connected we are to this fragile planet we live on!

Six years later, when the pilot on my flight from San Francisco to Vancouver pointed out Mount St Helens, everyone on board knew what it was and what it had been.

It was actually that trip to Vancouver that led me to my trip a few years later to Australia. I so enjoyed Expo 86 that I wanted to go to Expo 88 in Brisbane. I also went to other places on the east coast, from Melbourne to Cairns. My intention was to return and go to Tasmania and then the south coast on the way to Perth, but.... life got in the way.

Sarah: We went with friends to Expo '86 in Vancouver.
When we got to the Australia pavilion, they told us, 'See you in Brisbane in '88.'
We planned to go in 1988 with our friends, but they ended up having their first son in June of 1988.
The 2 of us went anyway, and had a great time in Sydney, Brisbane, Alice Springs, and Cairns.
