Qigong (chi kung) Classes in Guelph
Qigong is a Chinese form of movement therapy that builds and trains Qi in the body. Sometimes referred to as Chinese yoga, the practice combines movement & mediation as a way to integrate mind & body. Because of its long history, there are hundreds of different forms with as many different styles to teaching as there are teachers.

Chen style Taiji is the oldest form of Taiji. It is characterized by slow, flowing circular movements that are punctuated by quick and powerful bursts. It is a tradition that integrates health, fitness and martial skill. I teach the lineage as taught by Grandmaster Chen Zheng-lei.

Hebei style Xingyi is a martial art that uses direct economical techniques & straight-line movements. Its foundation training is based on the Five Phases theories. I teach the lineage as taught by Di Guoyong, founding member of the Beijing Xingyi Quan Research Association.

Bagua is characterized by its circle-walking training & circular, turning techniques. The classes focuses on Magui & Jiang styles Bagua. The Magui lineage makes use of full body power to quickly build internal strength at the outset, while Jiang style trains coiling power to coordinate movements & generate power.

" Knowing others is intelligent. Knowing yourself is enlightened.
Conquering others takes force. Conquering yourself is true strength. "

James Saper James Saper, R.TCM.P.

I received my Traditional Chinese Medicine training at Oshio College (now the Royal Pacific Institute) in Victoria, British Columbia. My interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine grew out of my previous university degree & work in the environmental field, working in the areas of environment & health. From there, Chinese medicine was a natural extension. I graduated with distinction in 2002 & was among the first group of registered practitioners recognized by the British Columbia regulatory body, the College of TCM Practitioners & Acupuncturists.

While living and studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in Victoria, I had the good fortune to meet & train Chinese Martial Arts with Shane Watson & Andrea Falk. I began a serious study of Yang & Chen styles of Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) in Victoria under Andrea's vigilant eye. I also was able to learn the Qi Gong form, Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa (18 Postures for Daily Practice), in Victoria from Sue Jiang.

Since moving to Guelph, Ontario, I have been able to deepen my Chen Taijiquan studies with Master Jack Yan, one of the eighteen inheritor disciples of Grand Master Chen Zhenglei. And since 2004 expanded my training with Andrea Falk to include Bagua & Xingyi.

Since 2004 I have been teaching internal styles & since 2002 operating a solo Traditional Chinese Medicine practice in Guelph, Ontario.
