Colliding Spaces - Sculptor Barber, Taipei. from lejournaldebord on Vimeo.
«When I got the time to see the space the scheme came quickly, I had to use the location to create an exclusive piece. It was not just about putting frames, illustrations on the wall and walk away. It required a new challenge. When I have the opportunity to work on an exhibition the first thing that comes in mind is; What I have not done yet, What things could stimulate me. Then, seeing those bright, neat & blank white walls the only, simple and obvious way was to use them as a canvas. I had no idea what could come up from my departure when I came in Taipei. I had a few friends, my portfolio in a suitcase, a pencil box and a few thoughts. I had to force myself - in a way - to not be in a position of weakness but at the contrary to attempt things. That is what Colliding Spaces suggest: Being from Paris, reaching a distant, unknown space that Taiwan represents and move things around by using my creative identity to generate a new impact, strike two cultures at once to get further, to see besides what you’ve experienced and spread from there.»
