Following the announcement that Wicked sets will be released prior to the film adaptation's release later this year, a LEGO version of the trailer has just premiered on YouTube.
It gives us our first look at the minidoll characters, including the protagonist and antagonist witches Elphaba and Glinda.
View the trailer after the break then let us know which other characters you recognise in it.
76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes was released last year, introducing a new range of relatively affordable Diagon Alley shops. This series provides definite potential and continues with the appealing 76439 Ollivanders & Madam Malkin's Robes.
Ollivanders is perhaps the most famous shop in Diagon Alley, so is an essential addition to the street, while Madam Malkin's Robes has never appeared in LEGO before and provides something completely new. However, these buildings seem relatively cramped, which could present an issue for their interiors.
Build the legend: Introducing The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 LEGO set
Today, the LEGO Group unveils the LEGO The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set, an epic homage to an iconic character in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zeldaseries. The intricately designed 2-in-1 LEGO set is a brick-built recreation of the character, which can either be built as the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time or from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
This 2,500-piece set encapsulates the essence of adventure and nostalgia whilst featuring meticulous details. Fans can build a selection of their fondest moments from The Legend of Zelda:Ocarina of Time or from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild through building and exploring the depths of the Great Deku Tree. In addition to the Great Deku Tree, the set comprises iconic sceneries from the video games, including the Master Sword pedestal from Breath of the Wild, as well as Link’s House from Ocarina of Time, allowing enthusiasts freedom to customise their display. The model is elegantly mounted on stands, providing an effortless showcase of the set.
The latest LEGO Ideas results were announced earlier this month and the Minifigure Prize Machine by Goosestore was one of the projects selected for production. Of course, the model will need minifigures to go inside.
LEGO has thus launched a poll to determine two of the minifigures included, choosing a new colour for the Classic Space astronaut and a Castle faction, which could be a returning faction from older sets, or a brand new one. Vote on LEGO Ideas here.
Which colour of Classic Space astronaut and Castle faction received your votes? Let us know in the comments.
Many LEGO set designers use our BrickLists feature to maintain a list of the sets they've worked on and often provide interesting insights about their involvement.
Once a week we publish an entry from one of their lists on the home page to increase awareness of this information and to encourage more designers to create them.
Joel Baker wrote this about their work on 41449 Andrea's Family House:
Lot's of color changes and new parts for the builders!
Working on this set was a joy. I tried to pack in as many fun details as possible.
My brother and cousin were major inspirations for the set - they both have a bit of Andrea in their personality and like to rock out in the garage.
The 3x3x2 curved window element idea originally came from a Diagon Alley sketch model. I worked with Yoel on the window frame - the Yoel and Joel tag team!
While minifigure-scale dinosaurs will doubtless remain integral to the Jurassic World range, the theme could presumably support other kinds of sets. I think 76964 Dinosaur Fossils: T. rex Skull was a superb example and 76962 Baby Bumpy: Ankylosaurus is another.
Following the minifigure-scale version in 76939 Stygimoloch Dinosaur Escape, Bumpy the Ankylosaurus also looks excellent at this increased scale. The model seems surprisingly detailed and certainly reflects Bumpy's cute appearance from Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.
But how many of those people lived to see themselves become plastic? There is a small but inevitably growing list of actors and historical figures who have found themselves immortalised in minifigure form after they’ve passed away. Join me as I take a look at the nearly 90 people to receive posthumous LEGO minifigures, and highlight some of the most notable ones along the way.
