Usually a CTD at loading screen stage is due to corrupted Gaming Services data. This is easy to repair and takes just a few seconds:
Open your XBox App, it should be on your taskbar.
Click on your user name at the top left of the window.
Click on Support in the drop-down menu.
Click the Gaming Services Repair Tool button.
Click the green Start repairing button.
Once the repair is complete, close the window and re-launch MSFS.
Complete re-install, I was installing updates. Then the program CTD. Now when I re-start, I get the usual loading screens,
the program says it's checking for updates, which I'm sure there are a ton of after a re-install but before going any further I get a total CTD. Any ideas?

The file possibly is being saved as an XML, but you've maybe got Edge set as the default for XML files ?!?
You'll maybe need Explorer set to show file extensions so's you can be sure what's going on.
If you can see the file extension you can just click on the filename in Explorer and press F2 to edit it, if necessary.
The original post linked above is gone, but there's an article with the same name @ https://www.flightsim.com/articles-vb/featured/installing-add-ons-into-fsx-steam-edition/
I have Microsoft Flight Sim X: Steam Edition. My understanding is it's updated to include SP1 & SP2, plus the Microsoft FS X: Acceleration expansion pack.
I've also added FSX Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz by Javier Fernandez (uss_nimitz_ike_version2.zip).
I downloaded FSX Acceleration Multiplayer Carrier Ops Nimitz from this site & attempted to install, but it displayed an error & would not allow me to continue installation. Error message: You do not have the Microsoft Acceleration expansion pack installed. This must be installed before you can use the SF Carrier mission.
TIA for any help...

Hi all
Since upgrading from windows 7 to w10 I'm getting back into some small scenery design using Object Placement Tool in fsx se, but for some reason when I save scenery it saves as a edge html file not a xml file so it won't let me compile my scenery.
How do I change the extension to save as xml
Cheers
Rhys
I've been meaning to give this trip a try, and today was finally the day.
The weather and scenery were lovely, though a bit disappointing that while the city had some custom built features (buildings) the canal itself was rather lacking in detail, i.e. no actual locks.
I used the Bell 47J with pontoons and did my first water landing, which was kind of sloppy but good enough as I was able to continue using the helicopter 🙂
Here are my trip photos in order:
That would be 3 degrees Glideslope.
Fighters watch AOA for Airspeed.
I am guessing that what that pilot meant was, IF you are at the correct airspeed (AOA) and power setting for a given rate of decent, then if the glideslope failed, maintianing the AOA would equal, same airspeed and same rate of decent, IF you do not add or reduce power.
For a stabilized approach (instrument or visual), you establish your approach speed in level flight, then just prior to reaching the GS you reduce power.
Airspeed stays the same and you descend.
If going below GS, add power.
If going above GS reduce power.
And do not change your nose attitude, this will maintain your airspeed.
