This is just a truly marvelous collection from Dinah Shore that covers 6 albums that she recorded for the Capitol label from 1959 to 1962. Her friend Frank Sinatra convinced Capitol Records to sign her to a contract and Dinah went on produce some remarkable songs for the label. This double cd set covers these 6 albums and gives the listener 40 tracks of sublime singing. Dinah Shore was the voice of Chevrolet automobiles during the late fifties and early sixties and after listening to these tunes I can understand why. A dynamite set - great sound, excellent presentation and a very informative booklet.

Cantante che conoscevo più per nome che per averla ascoltata con attenzione. La raccolta è molto bella, incisa bene e piacevole da ascoltare.

... Je n'achète jamais les CDs "The Best Of" qui sont général un salmigondis des soi-disant meilleurs titre de l'artiste! Pour ce disque de Dinah Shore, je n'ai pas remarqué sur la pochette (!!!) The Best Of... La voix de la chanteuse est belle, certes, (j'ai un autre enregistrement de la Dame) les titres connus, des standards chantés par tous et toutes. Mais alors, là, quel ennui! "ça" se traîne sur 24 morceaux (1er CD) de façon mortelle. L'accompagnement est sirupeux, avec force violons endormis "très endormis"... Le swing? Jamais! Exemple : réécoutons Sarah Vaughan interpréter "East of the the Sun and west of the Moon", quelle merveille!
Je mets "cinq étoiles" impossible d'évaluer au rabais Dinah Shore; j'ai tout simplement fait un mauvais choix de CD sur le site Amazon...
