Hooooooowl, yip-yip, hooowl! That's coyote for, "BEST BURGER ALERT!
Fun Fact: Just how we use Yelp to communicate to other foodies where they best food in town is, coyotes use a series of howls and yips to communicate with one another.
All coyote talk aside, this spot is where to go for a burger. They dish out half pound patties of all styles: Old Fashion, Old Fashion Cheese, Hickory, Dijon Swiss, Hickery, Blue Cheese, Green Chili, Chili, Mushroom Swiss, etc. There's quite the selection if you ask me!
My husband and I did the Hickory Burger, add Bacon because that's the move for 90s kids who grew up with Carl's Jr. and In-N-Out. It had tangy bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions and cheese. Basically, it was like a Double Double met a Bacon Western Cheeseburger.
The burger was plump, juicy and howling with flavor!
Of course, you can't bluff that the service and ambiance doesn't also make your visit. Our waitress had classic southern charm about her. She made us feel like a local, even though it was our first time. Super sweet woman! The ambiance was everything a burger joint should be. It had a dollar bill wall of customers who had visited and the menu chalked up on a blackboard. It was nothing fancy, just a real down-to-earth fun vibe.
Going back?
YIIIIIIIIP, that's... "hands down" in Coyote.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 27, 2023
Can I give more than 5*? Amazing burger we got the bacon cheese burger. I added green chiles to mine my husband got mushrooms w his. Amazing! Cooked to perfection! We shared the green Chile cheese fries. Definitely fresh cut fries. Served w ranch. Too much food.
There is a bath tub full of beer on ice. It's definitely quirky but memorable. The service was top notch. Very friendly and fast.
The bathroom was very small. But how much room do you really need.
It was a little hard to find in the dark but worth a visit while in Texas!!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason L.Las Vegas, NV3323May 23, 2024
It's not the prettiest place you can find to eat but the food is really good and the service is excellent

Not much has changed since we first came here and it is still a great selection. No longer a rarity to be open late in Amarillo, but still well worth a visit any time! The green chili cheeseburger is my favorite.

The burgers are thick and perfectly cooked, and decent fries and onion rings too. Open later than most places in Amarillo and easy to find just a few blocks off I-40. Service was friendly and prompt and the bathtub offers a nice selection of beers. No frills, great food.

As the old story goes, never judge a book by its cover or in this case a place to eat based on its exterior.
We are on a road trip and it was time to stop for dinner. We wanted something off the interstate, but not fast food and not taking a long time to since we still had miles to drive. My husband wasn't so sure about my selection when he pulled into the parking lot. I think he was going to turn around, until he saw the various cars, pick up trucks, local and out of state plates. It's divey looking, but fun decor, nice staff and large portions of yummy burgers & cheesy fries!
You could tell there were regulars and visitors and a steady turnover of customers. The reviews were spot on and glad we chose Coyote Bluff Cafe for our stop. We even thought it might be on our stop on our way back home at the end of our trip.
Our Golden agreed this was an awesome burger even before his 1st bite. Usually very polite & patient, but this time was a little impatient with us taking our time to serve him.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 3 - Jesse S.Farmers Branch, TX0102Apr 30, 2024
