Land ist der weiße Fleck der Architektur der Gegenwart. Lebensräume scheinen mehr und mehr Städte zu werden; Land dagegen wird ausgeblendet. Welche räumlichen Praktiken werden dort gelebt, wie durchdringen sich rurale und urbane Lebensweisen und Siedlungsräume? Kann sich ein globales Hinterland über Landränder, Landpioniere und lokale Energien herausbilden? Wie wirkt sich die wachsende Aufmerksamkeit für Nahrungsproduktion auf Architektur und Städtebau aus? Landraum versucht über das Mittel einer räumlich-architektonischen Annäherung, Dynamiken von ländlichen Räumen in Wahrnehmungs- und Entwurfswerkzeuge zu fassen. Es stellt das Arbeiten in größeren Maßstäben und aus architektonischer Perspektive zur Diskussion und ruft anhand von Studienarbeiten, Forschungsprojekten und künstlerischen Eingriffen zu einer Neuentdeckung der Peripherie auf. Die Sammlung von internationalen Projekten von Matthias Reichenbach-Klinke und seiner Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Planen und Bauen im ländlichen Raum wird mit Luftbildern von Klaus Leidorf illustriert.

The country is the white spot of contemporary architecture. Living spaces seem to be urbanising increasingly, while the country is blocked out. Which spatial structures and methods prevail in these areas? How do rural and urban lifestyles and settlement areas influence each other? Can a global back country develop via rural fringes, country pioneers, and local energies? What effects does the increasing awareness of food production have on architecture and urban development? By means of a spatial, architectural approach, Landraum tries to accommodate the dynamics of rural areas in instruments of perception and design. It puts large-scale work to discussion from an architectural perspective and calls for a rediscovery of the periphery on the basis of student projects, research projects, and artistic interventions. The collection of international projects by Matthias Reichenbach-Klinke and his employees at the Chair for Rural Planning and Building is illustrated with aerial photographs by Klaus Leidorf.
