Hundreds of mountain bikers have been descending - literally - on the French-administered island of Reunion, located in the Indian Ocean. They've been competing in an event known as Mega-Avalanche, billed as one of the most extreme sporting challenges in the world.
Among the competitors were the French Olympic champion Julien Absalon and hundreds of islanders. BBC correspondent Jon Kay watched the 35km downhill event from the start.
