Phooled!, a cybersecurity education tool, merges gaming, collaborative learning, and real-world applications. Developed by master’s student Vignesh Kumar Karuppasamy and Professor David Knox at the University of Ottawa, it aims to revolutionize phishing detection through hands-on learning experiences that balance gamification and education.
Developed as an educational response to the dynamic nature of cyberattacks and the less-than-perfect methods of training and awareness in the field, Phooled! integrates gaming elements with practical exercises based on actual phishing attempts.
Social, peer-based learning is at the heart of Phooled!, a tool that has the potential to improve cybersecurity training methods in academic and corporate settings through social learning techniques that improve retention of lessons learned.
