Students tour RDAbbott and NovationSi to learn about the rubber industry

Students from various Summit County high schools in Ohio recently visited RDAbbott and NovationSi for a facilities tour and overview of careers in the rubber industry. On March 21st, RDAbbott’s Service Center in Barberton, Ohio, hosted twenty-one students from the Industrial Maintenance and Production for Employment (IMPE) program at Stow-Munroe Falls High School. David Helmick, IMPE technology instructor and transitional work experience (TWE) coordinator, also participated in the field trip.

Bridgestone tests performance, durability of Potenza tire line at One Lap of America

Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) will celebrate its iconic Potenza tire line’s 45th anniversary by competing in the 40th running of the Tire Rack One Lap of America event May 4-11, 2024. Team Potenza Race and Team Potenza RE-71RS will participate in the eight-day, 3,500-mile event, known as one of the most difficult endurance challenges in the United States. This cross-country event spans 15 states and includes time attack trials at some of America’s most famous racetracks. Teams will spend nearly 24 hours a day making the grueling journey and pushing the tires’ performance and durability to the limit across multiple courses and thousands of miles.

Yokohama Rubber to launch the GEOLANDAR A/T4 all-terrain tire for SUVs and pickup trucks

The Yokohama Co., Ltd., introduces the GEOLANDAR A/T4, a standard all-terrain tire with an aggressive design that enhances the off-road driving sensation. The latest addition to the GEOLANDAR brand of tires for SUVs and pickup trucks, the GEOLANDAR A/T4 will be launched successively in markets around the world from mid-2024. Yokohama Rubber plans to provide the new tire in 64 LT- and C-metric sizes and gradually expand the size lineup in the future.

Arburg to present extensive portfolio for elastomer processing at DKT 2024 in Nuremberg

From 1 to 4 July 2024, ARBURG will be presenting its broad portfolio for the processing of elastomers at DKT, the German Rubber Conference and associated international trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany. The exhibit on the ARBURG stand 327 in Hall 9 will be producing bottle openers from solid silicone (HCR) by way of example. For this purpose, the electric machine will be equipped with a new material feed from partner ACH

The demand for natural rubber continues to rise due to its affordability, lightweight properties, and suitability for a wide range of applications. From insulating materials to tires for cars and airplanes, natural rubber remains indispensable across diverse sectors, driving its consumption to an estimated value of US$ 30,914.3 million by the end of 2033.

Evonik donates $80,00 to youth and STEM programs in Louisianna

Beneficiaries of the donation included the Kids on the Move STEM Summer Camp, the St. John 4-H Club, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Kids on the Move aims to provide a safe and engaging learning environment for children ages 4-13 and addresses the needs of disadvantaged and at-risk youth in St. John the Baptist Parish.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency issues new rules for chloroprene emissions

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a final rule that will significantly reduce toxic air pollution from chemical plants, including ethylene oxide and chloroprene. Once implemented, the rule will reduce both EtO and chloroprene emissions from covered processes and equipment by nearly 80%. A requirement for these facilities to conduct fence line monitoring for key toxic chemicals is included, and EPA will make the data publicly available to better inform and safeguard nearby communities.

Leibinger develops specialized ink for extruded PVC cable marking

EIBINGER announces the developed a special ink for cable marking and meter marking of extruded goods, one that adheres reliably to PVC materials. This ink is resistant to plasticizers which means it can prevent the effect described above of accidental transfer prints. With a Blue Wool Scale (BWS) ranking of 8, it also possesses exceptional UV stability.

ACE Laboratories completes installation of its new wiper blade testing system

ACE Laboratories has announced another new testing capability. This latest addition provides the ability to test and analyze windshield wiper blades and wipe systems.
The custom engineered testing system allows ACE to include energy consumption analysis as part of the testing protocol in addition to traditional durability analysis. ACE’s testing system also allows for customization to nearly all windshield types with angle and pressure controls to ensure testing is completed according to OEM specifications.
