6th Annual Zeeland Historic Home Tour-6/13/09

The Zeeland Historical Society is proud to announce Saturday, June 13, as the date for their 6th Annual Historical Home Tour. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. tour ten Victorian Homes that are over a century old. This year’s theme is all about quilts so guests will be able to enjoy looking at historical family quilts that mean the world to those who treasure them. A favorite tradition for home tour guests is being able have a complimentary ride in a vintage car to be driven to your next destination and Dutch desserts and drinks throughout the tour for guests to refresh themselves along the way. What has always made this home tour so successful in the past is the fact that there are so many people who come to gather as one and support the cause of restoring historical building in Zeeland, Michigan. This year will feature:

* Musicians and artists will be featured in the homes and gardens for tour guests to enjoy.

* A quilt show will be held on the porch at Parkview .

* Vintage cars that will take tour guests throughout the tour.

*Refreshments to be enjoyed by tour guests at homes.

The Dekker Huis Museum will have its “Good Ole Summer” display in the gallery that brings back memories of what it was like when neighbor’s fellowshipped with each other and no one had ever heard of TVs and game boys.

The real story of the Zeeland Historical Home Tour is not the amount of money that is made at this annual event, but the involvement of the people who come together from all walks of life as one. There are well over 120 people who give of themselves throughout this adventure in many different ways. From gathering homes for the tour, typing stories, baking cookies, cleaning windows to mowing yards, everyone pulls together to bring out the very best that Zeeland, MI has to offer.

Tickets can be purchased at the Zeeland Chamber of Commerce, Zeeland Hardware or Bunte’s Pharmacy for $20.00 each or $22.50 on the day of the tour at Museum.
