Fedora 9: How I set up Static IP for my wireless card.

I had been trying to set up a static IP for the wireless card and was not successful until now.
Thought it would be an interesting post for at least some.
This the current configuration.

System > Administration > Network
The following services are selected under general

Subnet mask 255.0.0.0 ( you have to choose your subnet mask this is just a generic value)
Default gateway address 10.0.0.204 ( This is your router IP address or default gateway address do not use this number it should be the value of your router)
Not selected Set MTU to 1500

Under IPV4 settings
Method: Select Manual
Address
In address I added the IP address example 10.0.0.25
Netmask 255.0.0.0
Gateway 10.0.0.204 ( my gateway add this is not the real one select the right value which is your router ip address)
DNS servers: Enter the primary and secondary DNS server values one after the other separated by comma and space.
Hit OK and you are all set to go.

Now shut down your computer and restart it.
This is the problem I encountered and I have to do the following every time I want to get connected to the wireless network with a static IP.
The Wireless Network Device is found to be inactive – I have to activate it first by going to
System > Administration > Network and hit activate the wireless ethernet card mine is eth1
Now left click the network manager icon on the top right corner and select your wireless network connection and viola your wireless net work is connected and you are all set to surf with a static IP on your wireless card.

This took a couple of hours and many trials start up and shut downs before I was successful.
At least it works for me now.
