Le poème « Comment dire » est le dernier texte que Samuel Beckett a écrit en français, peu avant sa mort. Sentant s’approcher le moment de se taire enfin, Beckett se penche sur ce qui l’a le plus préoccupé pendant toute sa vie créative : l’impossibilité de traduire en mots l’expérience de l’existence, l’impossibilité de signifier. Le trajet du langage est terminé, et à la fin, vu l’échec des mots, il n’y a que silence.
