In an Industry
filled with bloodsuckers, there is much for a rap group to fear. But Swahili
Nation (Phat family) have embraced the other side of the coin. With side
A the project / Watch closely, their sophomore LP, obviously will earning
them a worldwide status, since what their imprint - Phat Boy Records aiming
of.
These boogie
monsters from Dar-es-salaam - Tanzania, but now based in Johannesburg
- South Africa comprises of Raddady Bahram aka Daddy, Zaniel aka X-Madoda
and DJ-MC cum Producer Mubarak Simba aka m.o.b.e, that's not all with
major energy from Phat family members go by the of
Renegadez, a rap group based in california,los angeles, but representing
their African roots to the maximum. The group is made of 3 members, namely
(l) Ramone Johnson a.k.a. "Young Cashias", born in the state
of Chicago-mid west and moved to California, is considered by the group
to be best lyricist to touch the mike. (2) Ricky Parham a.k.a Nastro,
born in Chicago-mid west too, and moved to California. He is considered
by the group to be the pillar that holds them together with all his talents,
he is the genius that solves their problems and makes their faces brighter.
(3) Richard Mzuri a.k.a MZ, born in Kenya in Africa and moved to California.
They call him the 3rd member and a wizard of production, as ideas flows
from his head every minute. He likes to get in the zone and with his two
boys just sit and they compose. Ramone and Ricky are the rappers, while
MZ lays back and handles the production and sees all the business flows
as expected. MZ and Mubarak hope to become the best producers to ever
come out Africa. Phat family members - Renegadez have in the past done
works in producing with famous rappers like Rappin 4 Tay, PS of the 40
thieves, D.Mac (this is the actor on the movie Get On The Bus) opened
shows for singer Ginuwine, done some acting on MC Lyte Video, been on
the worlds most famous hip hop show called "the wake up show"
with famous sway of MTV among others. Phat family get thousands of downloads
from mp3.com and offers to write and produce for others. Just recently,
Phat family- Renegadez did a theme song for a movie soundtrack. The movie
took 5 of their songs also. The movie entitled "Street Furry Chrome"
featured famous acts like rapper Red Man, Mini Me and Sugar Ray, among
others. On this coming month the May 24th, Swahili Nation three members
based in California will be doing a show with world famous rapper Xibit
himself. There is also another mixed CD creating a buzz on MTV and the
streets, the mixed CD is said to include acts like Tupac, Jay Z, Eminem,
Snoop Dogg, Lil Mo, 50 cents, Sean Paul, and guess who is in there also?
This is an opportunity for us to give good music to people of Africa that
we love and let the world know that Africans can produce high class hip-hop
music too, and they do deserve respect, while repping their continent
or hoods", says Phat Family.
Their first
ever well produced album recently and ready to hit the stores International
market under two Indie Imprints based in California and Johannesburg .
The double
CD has twenty-eight tracks including their first 2 singles: Tucheze,
Salute to the dead produced and recorded in Johannesburg - South
Africa at Base II Base Studios as well as Beats Bhangers Studios in California
under soft touch from up and coming African producers Mubarak Simba (Johannesburg)
and Richard Mzuri (California)
In additional
the music video of their first single Tucheze that was shot in
Johannesburg and Pretoria respectively its in the last editing process
ready to hit your screen sooner than later.

Phat Family (Swahili Nation) have been put on an Africanhiphop Compilation
that is to be released worldwide, their two tracks which have been put
in the compilation are: Tucheze and Salute to the dead
