FrontPage Express

Designing a page using Microsoft Front Page Express (FPX).
Part One

Designing your site using MS FPX is very easy.

Before you begin, you'll want to first save a blank page into the directory where you have any images for the page. Click on File and Save As and then choose "As FIle" and browse to the folder where you want to save to, or create a new folder to hold your web pages and images. Once you do that, you won't have any problem adding images to the page and all the file references will be correct. You may wish to use Explorer to move or copy any images you plan to use to this folder. If you have a directory called "images" or "pictures" that's no problem. As long as you save the blank page first to the directory where the page is going to end up when you're done. The structure of the directory should be the same as it will be on the Internet web server where you're going to upload or publish your page.

Editing with FPX is very easy. If you've used almost any text editing program, the toolbar will look familiar. The easiest way to make your page is to first put in your background image. You do this by clicking on Format and choose Background. The reason for doing this, is you may need to add a table before you put in any text. Also, you can begin your text in the color you're going to want for the page.

A good program to go along with FPX is called NoteTab Std/Light or Note Tab Pro. These text editors are excellent for editing your HTML code. They're better to use than the HTML viewer in FPX. The NoteTab Light is a free program.
