Welcome to MyLEGOTips Blog!

My LEGO Tips contains shortcuts and interesting tidbits regarding the My LEGO Network website. I'll continue to add Item and Module descriptions here as my Rank increases. Check back often as this page updates frequently!
Caution, this site is full of MyLEGO Network spoilers!

Special Items for Beta Testers

In case you were wondering about how to get Pet Glitch Modules, there's no point getting too excited unless you were a Beta Tester for MyLEGO Network, but then you probably already know about these special modules and items.

MyLEGO Network was given a test run during the last few months of 2007. When MLN officially went live in early 2008, all the user accounts were reset to Rank 0. Anyone who participated during that testing period was given a Beta Tester Badge. Look just under Kludge Dropcolumn's avatar picture to see the Beta Tester Badge.

Only users with this Beta Tester Badge can be friends with Kludge Dropcolumn. And only friends of Kludge Dropcolumn can buy the Pet Glitch Module Rank 2 blueprint on his page. I'm not sure where the Pet Glitch Module Rank 1 blueprint comes from. (maybe beta testers got it automatically?)

Beta Testers can win Beta Bugs by clicking on a Pet Glitch Module Rank 1. They can also win Blue Screens of Sadness by clicking on Pet Glitch Module Rank 2.

All these items are unattainable for those of us who were too slow getting started at the MyLEGO site ...Sigh... Next time I'll be sure to read LEGO announcements more closely!!

bad news jevej :<
Only the peoples that were signed up to MLN during beta test in Dec2007 can get the Beta badge.

It'd be cool to have, but it's not any big advantage, so don't fret it. It's more a badge of honor for those who tested for bugs.

So when you see someone with the badge, you know they've played this game before us!

ps. why's your music box in stealth mode? ;)

I'm still sort of bummed out about that but it's really good to find others with the same problem.
Actually what really bothers me is that I've been a member of the Lego online club since 2001 or something like that, but I don't know how to get an Old Timer's badge. Think you could help with that?

I got the Old Timers Badge with only having a club page for a year or so, but maybe I got it because I'm really old? It came when I converted club page to MLN. Also got 3 SPA badges. (and an old timer sticker). But I wasn't a Kanoka club member, so I missed out on that one!

when i started i had 4 SPA badges (but i don't know why) and the kanoka club badge. but ive been a lego member since Feb. 2002.

I know how to get the old timer's badge! First, make sure you are signed in to my lego network. Then go to 'my lego network wiki' and then search 'badges'. At the bottom it says 'external links'. If you click the number two, after the code shows up on your screen, go back to your page. You should get a message from dusty including the old timers badge blueprint, 10 white bricks, 10 black bricks, and a sticker that says 'old school'.

In reply to your message plotkin, the source code has been taken off. Apparently some users were hacking into the system and giving out the source code before Lego warned them to stop. Oh, and I was a beta tester and can assure you that the badge and other items that were given to us beta testers don't really do a lot other than allow us to befriend Kludge. Other than that it is just kind of like an honor thing like bonesoup868 said. (Don't get me wrong, though, I wouldn't trade the beta tester stuff for any other item in MLN.) I hope that answers your questions,
