Welcome to La Croix Gilette
Welcome
A classic French experience
La Croix Gilette was built as the hunting lodge belonging to the Chateau de Boussay. The original house dates back to around 1750 when all the cooking was done in the open fireplace. The house has been extended over the years; the grange (long barn) and later a kitchen were added.
We acquired the house in 2007. For the past eighteen months the house has undergone extensive renovation, restoring its original rustic features, oak beams and local stone; several walls are in traditional ‘pierres apparentes’. An eco-friendly geothermal facility provides underfloor heating; roof-top rainwater supplies all non-potable water from an underground reservoir. The house sits in 3000 sq.m. of ‘home garden’ surrounded by fields of sunflower and corn. Many towns, villages and vineyards, including the renowned chateaux of the Loire valley, are within easy reach.
We look forward to welcoming you to
La Croix Gilette.
