manage the size of icons AND text in Mac OS X 10.7 “Lion” sidebar

Following my steps in discovering Mac OS X 10.7 “Lion” new features, here’s another one on how to manage the size of icons AND text in all the sidebars provided by Apple’s built-in software (probably it has always been there but I can’t remember using that in the last 5 years of this platform’s usage).

Finder and Mail.app are the applications that shows immediately differences in text, icon and size in their sidebar compared to their past releases.
The way to change how they look like is via Preference’s Pane > General > “Sidebar icon size” (sorry but I’m guessing here, since my system is in italian).

In the following 3 screenshots I took on my MacBook – by the way – you’ll immediately see where this option is and how it influences the look and the amount in the information that are immediately visible in it’s 3-value declination: Big, Medium and Small.

(clicking on the images, as usual, you can get a bigger view)

OSX Lion sidebar char (big) -01

OSX Lion sidebar char (medium) -02

OSX Lion sidebar char (small) -03

Small is the value I choose to use, since it looks, behaves “better” and makes me more productive on my 1680x1050px hi-resolution display.
And you ???
