Remember this from Kol?
Well here’s a short story. Microsoft contacted two time WinCustomize administration regarding of my VistaXP skin. The first time they told them to remove the skin. They romoved it but they put the skin back online because they can’t selectively enforce. In November they contacted WinCustomize and they took the skin down again.
Yestarday I got an e-mail from the people that represent Microsoft in intellectual property matters and they requested me to remove the skin from all the website where it is available.Sorry everyone but now more updates or download links to VistaXP and please do not redistribute the skin. The question is why only my skin and not all other Vista based themes out there? I know they have the right to take my skin down and I dont ave any problem with it but I think is not fair to take only one skin when there are a lot of other skins using the same resources that I used.
Now Microsoft, Biggest Software Corp in the World, Currently Releasing Windows Vista in 2007 and has terrible history with lawsuits ;).
How long has it been since VistaXP was Banned? how many themes has Microsoft Made since VistaXP was banned? and finally how many themes have been made that look exactly like vista?
Lets Just say a hell of alot, now its come to my attention that People are looking for Vista XP and now Vista is Final lets Bring VistaXP Back:
VistaXP is not illegal in the tech world microsoft was just been a bully and picked Kol out of the hat of People to take down Skins of Microsoft Windows Vista. “There are Plenty of Themes that are totally like Windows Vista Microsoft Go pick on them for once”
I have Setup a folder at my personal host for VistaXP so get them while there hot 😉

Thanks a lot for the provision of the themes by Kol. I am sure it’ll help out a lot of people. It was surprisingly difficult to find these themes, as the main customisation sites such as WinMatrix DeviantArt etc. abided by MS’s requests.

It’s a really great skin, just the Vista explorer bar icons and horizotal shellstyle are needed to make it perfect!
A little problem on my PC – how did you get the desktop icons to show the disk space status, the round start button, the scrollable start menu? I have WB 5 Enhanced (activated) on my PC but can’t find the WB menu in the Display properties -> Apperance. Could I turn those options on from there? Please help!
Oh yeah – and the start menu shouldn’t have any icons. Othervise – GREAT skin (9/10, if I could rate it!)!!!

Abhay the vistaXP skin was Vista Beta1 theme the new theme in Vista is totally different.
The skin was taken down due to it looked totally like Vista beta1 but it didn’t and as far as i know its still banned for now, this is were i came in :p and supplied it to people. Its the most looked for skin on google currently/was
Both VisualStyles and WindowsBlinds appear as WindowsClassic when I apply them. Can anyone tell me why this is happening or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
WC make sure your uxtheme.dll is patched 🙂 you can find a program via google called uxtheme patcher, if you can’t find it just leave a comment.

Well, because Microsoft can’t shutdown/removed all vista lookalike themes, so they search one for victims, sadly it’s the coolest one -kol’s Vistaxp theme. Off course this thing is unfair. If they want to removed one so the have to remove all of them. But they can’t do this.
Since so many Vistaxp themes out there, there’s no reason not to re-uploading no.1 Vistaxp themes available on the net.

Thank you for sharing this one again. I used to have this skin applied but recently had to format my computer – I remembered the hassle I had to go through in order to find a live link to the file still but this time around it was much easier (a sign that Microsoft’s attempt was futile, perhaps?)
They may not want KoL sharing his theme with the world because of how similar they can be, but really, how does that stop everyone else who already has it from continuing to use it? One would think when you put money down for a operating system, you are purchasing its operating system abilities, not its pretty graphics. If Microsoft allowed customisation of Windows themes, they would have a much more accepting and actively supportive community.
Instead, they breed hate.

mac, here is how you get VistaXP to work.
1. Patch your uxtheme.dll file (look it up on Google)
2. Download the skin at the top that you want
3. use winrar to extract to your C:/windows/resources/themes
4. Download window binds from star dock
5. Go to where you installed the new theme and find some weird file don’t know what its called but when you double click it you will open up the new theme.
6. Need more help?
Um, It won’t work. i hacked my uxtheme.dll and i followed the readme instructions, but I can’t get it to work. Any help?

I just downloaded this installed it and it is CLOSE to vista.
There are way better vista themes out there with a real looking start button/menue!!!!
Why this got removed idk but in the end this still is a “NICE” theme!!!!
