Heartsong Music Families: your health and safety are our top priority!
This spring we will continue to offer socially distanced Music Together® Outdoor classes in a shady backyard, a covered pavilion, and a shady area outdoors at a rec center in our lovely city of Austin, Texas, and we will continue to offer Music Together Online classes on Zoom.
We are committed to providing your family with both of these safe and enjoyable options to enjoy making Music Together this Spring Session.
We’re very excited to be able to offer outdoor Music Together classes! (And if there is inclement weather, the classes will be taught on Zoom.) We will continue to have the families' blankets at least 4 feet apart and require our families and children ages 2+ to wear masks (if possible) when off of their blankets. We will continue to sanitize our rhythm instruments before and after class. Each family will sign a Covid health and release form before class to insure all are healthy for class. To this date, we are unaware of anyone taking classes at Heartsong during the pandemic to have contracted Covid.
Spring Session Outdoor Locations:
- Northwest Austin - Unity Church of the Hills at 9905 Anderson Mill Road near Hwy. 183. They have a huge pavilion that we will have access to all week long! So rain or shine, we will be able to have classes there outdoors! And if there is lightning we'll teach on Zoom. Liz, Carey, and Amanda will be teaching here.
- Central Austin/Allendale - Northwest Recreation Center at 2913 Northland Dr., Austin, TX 78757 near 2222 and MoPac. This location is very close to our former studio that was located on West Anderson Lane, and it has replaced our Fall 2021 Tarrytown location. We are happy that we can accommodate our loyal Heartsong Music families with a safe, clean, modern, centrally located, convenient location. We will be outdoors, and if there is rain we will teach the class on Zoom until the Covid numbers are down. Once the Covid case numbers are lower, we can then move inside during inclement weather to one of their large, well ventilated classrooms, allowing us to keep our social-distancing standards in place. Kerrie, Michelle, and Amanda will be teaching here.
- South Central Austin - Amanda will be teaching outdoors in a family backyard on Sundays.
And we will also offer Music Together Online Zoom classes and will be bringing The Joy of Family Music® right into your living rooms, keeping the TOGETHER in Music Together.
- Vanessa Heilman will continue teaching Zoom classes on Sunday mornings.
Our families recognize that we are experts at teaching young children music and are gifted at building community, and our families want to stay connected with their teachers and peers in class during this unprecedented time in America and the world. Parents need us more than ever to help facilitate a creative, playful, and safe environment for their children. We offer parents fresh inspiration and will help you facilitate engaging, educational activities you can take home. And if you're not ready to return to in-person outdoor classes, you can join us from wherever you are on the globe in our online Zoom classes!
We know screen time isn’t generally recommended for this age group, but here’s the difference: YOU! When children stare at a screen and passively receive information, they don’t take it in the same way, nor do they learn in the same way, as when they have the active participation of a parent or caregiver. SO, just like in our classes, you’re still the most important part. Your teacher will be on the screen, but it is truly the interaction of the parent/caregiver with their child that is going to continue their musical development! We will also give you lots of fun activities and ideas to do at home while we’re all looking for WHAT to do.
