I think first would be to buy a good book about this subject…
Also, i advise you to choose a variety you like and do not start crossing two different ones.

Hello Yann. I am installing a Discus aquarium of 300 litres.
I'm sharp enough in sea water but not at all fresh water.
I plan to put 6 Medium size discus (6 cm ?). Is this OK?
A priori, I am thinking to the cobalt blue and the leopard (2×3)
My question is: what should be the male-female distribution of each species for the purpose of future reproduction.

Hello Pierre,

You can take a little larger discus if you wish. Their growth will be a little more advanced and you will just have to "fine tune" this one in your aquarium.
Sexing discus is not an "exact science"… Only farmers well know their lines could you sexing… And yet they will not be 100% affirmative…
The ideal would be to have 3 couples but I would say not to count on buying young subjects…
If the goal is reproduction, I would advise you in any case of crossing these two varieties.
