We thought we would give you all a quick look at what we are building for Mark form MG Crash Repairs.
Mark wanted the very best he could build. He had a R33GTR with an impressive spec to start off with. We both decided that it was going to be far to heavy.
After giving him is possible options he decided on a S15. Soon enough a S15 NA was bought and striped. Then we set about stripping the GTR of the mighty RB26DET engine.
The next thing was to start on the shell.
Unfortunately the shell was a bit corroded which seems to be a common problem with the S15 shells. There must have been a problem with the corrosion resistant coatings in the factory as we have seem quite a few corroded in similar places. This shell had had some repairs done in the past which we were not to keen on as the integrity of the material and welds was not know.
After allot of thinking about the pros and cons we decided to remove the floor pan and bulk head as the corrosion was very bad and we had to make a new tunnel any way. This allowed for the RB26 engine to be positioned just where we wanted it. Form there we started to make a tube frame floor and tunnel to keep maximum strength, safety and lightness.
