Florida State twirlers

Video taped auditions will be accepted only in cases of extreme hardship. Please call the band office for approval before sending a video tape. Unauthorized tapes will be discarded. Video tape is not a preferred method of audition.

All persons interested in auditioning for the FSU majorette squad must complete and return an audition registration form. (If you would like to receive an information packet, please and title the subject "audition information." Please be sure to include a correct name, mailing address, and phone number to insure that the information will get to you.) In keeping with the policies of the FSU School of Music, auditions are NOT open to spectators. No one will be allowed into the audition areas except adjudicators, candidates, and those designated by the School of Music as operational personnel. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Majorette canidates must prepare a solo routine. This should be a dance-twirl routine, two to three minutes in length. Interpretation of music is key. Be sure to bring your own cassate tape.
Secondly, canidates will be taught marching fundamentals, dance routines, and other twirling routines by a staff member on site. Candidates are judged on how quickly and accurately they learn this material. These routines will be evaluated at the conclusion of the day. Auditions last until late afternoon in order to allow ample time for practice.
Candidates are required to wear a majorette-style uniform; no skirted uniforms please! Wear tennis shoes; no boots. Hair should be worn down with appropriate performance makeup. All candidates will be measured for a uniform so that this information will be on hand immediately after auditions. (This will, of course, be private and held in confidence.)
