Cricut Craft Room software will work with all Cricut machines, (original Cricut, Cricut Create, Cricut Expression, Cricut Expression 2, Cricut Cake, Cricut Imagine, Gypsy and Cricut DesignStudio). The Craft Room software will work with both PC, and MAC computers.
What is Cricut Craft Room? Cricut Craft Room is a free online design tool. The software is expected to be available in April of 2011. Cricut craft room will require an internet connection and access will be made with your Cricut.com account.
You will be able to link a Gypsy to Cricut Craft Room, or if you do not have a Gypsy you can link your cartridges to CCR using the USB cable and your Cricut machine.
“Cricut Craft Room is the solution to many of our customers’ requests,” says Jim Colby, Senior Vice President of Product Development. “With this new software, anyone can design with our complete library and add their personalization by welding and manipulating our artwork on the virtual mat. Customers must own a cartridge in order to cut images from it, but they can design and get inspiration from everything.”
CCR sounds like it is going to be a web-based tool very similar to the current Cricut Design Studio software. CCR will work like a virtual Cricut mat.
Features:
- drag and drop
- one-touch welding
- image grouping and sizing
- search for specific images in a vast library
Q: Can I save my cut files/designs on my computer hard drive?
A: Yes, You can save your cut files in your account AND on your hard drive as back up.
Please leave a comment and let us know what you think about the Cricut Craft Room Online Software!
Annelvira says
Wow, I am very excited. This is going to be great…don’t know if I can wait until April!
Sara says
Free! is the keyword for me… seems like for once Cricut is giving us something as a reward for being loyal cartridge buyers.
Lisa Ritchie says
I think it will be fantastic. The part about having an internet connection scares me a little, but maybe it will work on my Ipad.
Ann says
My only real reservations about this revolve around reliability. All too often, “you get what you pay for”… and sometimes “free” isn’t necessarily the better option. Also, I’m wondering if the bandwidth Circuit/Provocraft assigns will be large enough to accommodate all the users who may be online simultaneously. I have some difficulty accessing the message boards during peak use hours. And what about saved projects? They, I assume, will be saved in a special partition on the mainframe to which we have access, or are we going to have storage capability on our own computer using their software? I need more information before deciding that this “shared access” product will be better than my own personal Design Studio assigned to my own computer and available to me only, 24/7.
Judy says
I think this will be great. I own just about everything that has to do with Cricut including 80ish cartridges. I am currently on dial up, but am hopeful high speed will be in our area soon.

I am pretty excited about this! I did buy my Cricut so that it could work independently of the computer, but I am willing to try this out for welding words, at least. I am glad it’s a free offering by PC, as we all have invested a small fortune on their products (Cuttlebug included, oh and also Coluzzle too). I also hope that it’s really user-friendly for those of us who are not overly tech-advanced! Which is why I haven’t bought the Design Studio or the Gypsy, as well, besides having to hook it up to the computer. I am also happy that we’ll be able to search for images too! I’m glad PC is listening, as I’ve contacted them about this in the past! Deb M 🙂
Janeane says
Lisa,
It would be great if it ran on an iPad. However, CCR is flashed-based, which as of right now is not supported on the iPad, but it might be something that could be added to the iPad down the road.. we’ll see.

Janeane says
Ann,
I agree about speed and bandwidth. This will all depend on how the technology is setup…we’ll have to wait and see. 🙂
-J
Janeane says
Deb,
The image search will be great, and yes I feel this is aimed toward those who have invested a lot of time and money into the products. It really offers the “next level” of functionality to the products. The other great thing about web-based software is that it is always up to date, and you don’t have to constantly download and install updates.(easier).

the preview video is just fantastic. Looks a little more user friendly than design studio
Thank you Provo Craft

I would love to try it. I own over 200 cartridges and to take them with me everywhere I go to crop is insane, so I was very appreciative of the Gypsy. I purchased Design Software, but rarely used it as I am no very computer savy and it was more frustrating to use it than just to use the cartridges. I have gotten use to the Gypsy somewhat, but would love to have it visualized on a larger screen but I can’t lug my computer around with me, so it is useless for crops- at least for me. IF I design at home, will I then be able to save it on my Gypsy to take my ideas with me. I am one that cuts what I think I want and then always want it either larger or smaller once I actually set it on my layout, so I simply recut it in a larger or smaller size. Will be able to adjust the size once we save it? Sorry, so many questions.
Virginia says
Looks like lots of fun. I’m looking forward to having this. Hurry April!!!!!!!!
Jeanie says
Do I understand correctly, that you just find am image and put it on your online mat, and are able to cut, even if you don’t own that particular cartridge?
Or……..do you only use the “craft room mat” with cartridges that you own?
Janeane says
Jeanie, no you do have to own the cartridge in order to use it with the Craft Room.
Nicole says
I, like many others, have invested a small fortune into the whole Cricut world, I have a create, expression, and the imagine is on its way. I also have a Gypsy and design studio, and own just under 100 carts, so yeah, FREE sounds very good to me especially if it makes the use of the new imagine better. I really wish it worked with the gypsy fully though as this is my favorite way to create, and would love to color, design, and create all of my projects on the gypsy. It would be wonderful if they created a new cable to sync our new imagine carts onto the gypsy as well, so hopefully it won’t be long before all of these can be compatible with each other and all of our purchases would be still worth the price we paid:) Here’s to hoping….and wishing…..and praying
tina martin says
I love it! I wish they had come out with it before I got my Gypsy for Christmas! My 50+ year old eyes can’t see the Gypsy screen very well. This will be great for home scrapping and my Gypsy will be great for crops.
tina martin says
I agree, free is really key here.
Janeane says
Nicole, thank you for the great comment, I think your feelings are shared with many others.
Kathleen says
Ok, I’m confused…I understand that you have to have the cartridges in order to cut out but I thought you could see any of the cartridges and design with them but would need to get them in order to cut out your designs. Is this true?
Thanks
Kathleen
Janeane says
Kathleen,
Yes, you will be able to “see” all the images, but not be able to actually use (“cut”) them unless you have the cartridge they images are on.
eunice c says
This sounds great. I am currently an avid user of Design Studio. Will this mean that you will be phasing out Design Studio? Or will you continue to update DS?
Janeane says
Eunice,
From what I understand Design Studio will continue to be updated and supported.

Meike says
I m happy
Meike says
i don t need design studio
i have so many cartridges, i unsterstand that when i have the cartridge i see it on my computer and cut then my created design larger or smaller from the cartridge when it is cold outside for example
is it correct?
Cindi Van Ausdal says
Ann (dated Feb 3rd) brings up all the points that I would have brought up however – I have problems with my design studio – don’t kow if I have a defective one or if I am the defective product! I am not sure how to even describe my problems and if this is the forum – if someone can suggest a good design studio blog may be I will discuss it there! but I want to be able to get to my ‘stuff ‘ when I want to and not be inhibited! I don’t work well with delayed graitification!
Mamie says
I am ecstatic to learn that you are offering something free to your loyal user who have invested so much in your products. I hope the Craft Room is a major improvement over design studio. I have had numerous problems with design studio and tend to jump between DS and my gypsy. I do hope the new software will address some of the short falls in DS i.e. stability (will not crash), continued ability to hide contour once a project is saved, and additional enhancement (losing the cursor off the screen). Please don’t misunderstand I love that I have tools (cricut create, expression, gypsy, cuttlebug and numerous cartridges) and I use most of them on a daily basis. To be honest I get frustrated approximately 75% of the time because of limitations with DS and gypsy. I have some programming experience and there are little user friendly fixes that can be incorporated (placement of the cursor once an image is deleted) in the DS software to make it a better product. I try to understand that your average enduser lacks technical savvy, however knowing too much can be a hindrance.
the scrapoholic says
While, in theroy this all sounds great, but when will you take the time to fix the issues with those of us who spent our hard earned money on Design studio for it to crash or saved files to get corrupt for no apparent reason. i can’t purchase a gypsy for physcial disabilities nevermind the financial part. i do have to wonder like others if this is an online program is the availabilty going to be avaiable all the time like software on the computer. i think i’d rather a free download w/ability to back up files online. we shall see what actual comes of this but my hopes are not to high as the reputation of PC and technology is not all that great. jmo
sandra snowton says
i am so excited to see this come out it will be a big help. provocraft keep outdoing themselves
Jenny says
What I’d like to know about are the FEATURES of the product and whether or not they will FIX the flaws in DS – things like features not carrying over to copied images, having to build frames for cut outs inside an image (how about an embed image function???), features not saving so that they have to be redone, and LOTS more.
I’d also like to be able to EASILY transfre designs from Gypsy to DS so that I can use the 2 exclusive (built-in) carts; right now, it’s a chore.
What I do not want is another product that is goig to create more work for me in order to be able to use just a few features that I like and then have to do othr things with other products (Gypsy and DS).
Janeane says
Jenny,
Thank you for the excellent comment. It sounds like you really know your tools well. I also hope the Craft Room is able to work smoothly with all the Cricut products. (the list grows everyday!)

I am soo excited about this. I have been wanting to use my Imagine to its fullest potential and have yet to be able to do this until now. I can now place an image on the virtual mat where I want it and it opens up alot of possibilities for designing. I love when Provo craft listens to us and love it even more when it is free. I have spent alot of money on my little bugs and getting a freebie is a nice treat. Still waiting for the gypsy update they promised. But this helps.
Janeane says
Thank you for the comment Carol. Great blog you have by the way 🙂

I use Ds for everything I cut with my cricut and I like being able it use without the internet as I am not always able to connect. it sounds like you don’t plan any new features for DS. I hope that is not the case especially since currently you can not us the imagine and the Ds which means the imagine is of little use to me. I like to design and save my designs and reuse them over and over and without option with the imagine I am not able to do this.
Lisa says
Looking forward to seeing it in action. I’m hoping it will be extremely user friendly for us technologically challenged people…lol!
Bk says
LOVE IT!!! I own the Gyspy but because the screen is so small I have trouble seeing the images. This new software will allow me to see all the images clearly. I am excited about being able to use
all cricut and imagine cartridges. Thanks Provo Craft you’ve done it again.
Audreyfrel says
I am so loving the sound of this new software! The only issue I had with my Imagine was that I could join, weld, or any of the options I used on my Design Studio.
The only drawback that concerns me right now is the bandwidth issue. I wouldn’t want to have to wait to access the software just because it’s free. If this were to be the case, I’d rather the software be available for purchase, so I can access and use it with comfort and ease.
Can’t wait to try it and hope it’s all I’d love it to be — really hope so!!!
I do want to thank Provo Craft for this wonderful idea and the opportunity!!! They ARE working for us!!!
Janeane says
Audreyfrel, yes I think your concern about bandwidth is valid, the last thing you want to do when designing is wait for something to load or have a connection issue!
Wow, just checked out your, blog. What fantastic work you do! 🙂
Boebis says
It sound’s great. I really hope that they will make is compatible with an I pad. From what I see it works just like the Design Studio. Great.

Hi There
I have the Design Studio and thats great for looking at all the cartridges and this new craft room i will be able to see all the new imagine cartridges i dont have. The new expression 2 looks fab.
Becky says
Can’t wait to get this free tool. I have the Expression, Gypsy and Imagine machines and am waiting to see what the Expression 2 will cost before I think I need another machine! What a geat way to thank cricut buyers! I can’t wait to start using it!
Ann says
You can design anything, but you can only cut if you have the cartridge.
Connie Roberts says
Provo Craft has done it again! What a wonderful addition to my Cricut Toys, I can’t wait to play! Thank you for always going above and beyond with your new releases, I love each and everyone of them – and yes I own just about all of them!

I have noticed that many people have the same problem as me in seeing the screen on the gypsy so I find I don’t use it to its full potential. The releasing of this freeeeeeee program is great so long as I can use it on my Mac I will be over the moon. The reason I bought the gypsy was that my design studio is not compatible with my Mac so is unused. So happy to be able to get something that I can see to create my designs. Like all other commentators I am very happy to be rewarded with something free from Provo Craft. I have other computer cutting machines but don’t use them as the software is to cumbersome so I bought the Cricut Expression and have been very happy with the capabilities of this machine and grateful for all the little extras that are on each cartridge. Thank You from Me.
kathy johnson says
where do i get the cricut craft room software…..
Nadia says
I am on the circle and have been hearing about the girls who have been able to preview it. I would love to if possible! I love this concept and have always been a CDS person. I never enjoyed the G since the screen is so small and really looking forward to using the new online software. It looks fabulous!
Janeane says
Nadia, yes I agree about screen size, when designing it helps so much to have a good-sized work space.
P.S. Great blog you have! 🙂
Debra Gordon-Goralski says
the video really didn’t explain exactly what the Cricut Craft Room is all about
Michelle Heglie says
I can hardly wait until this software is available! I have a Gypsy now and love it… but having a full size screen to work with will be fabulous!
Janeane says
Debra,
It basically is a tool that allows you to design and create on a computer screen. It is a lot like DesignStudio, except it is hosted on the internet, and FREE. 🙂

Christina says
I am super excited about this!
Sean says
It won’t work on your IPad, it’s a flash based app.
Sean says
🙂 There will be a downloadable version you can run as well. It will work similar to the online version, but will also have some extra features.
Sean says
It syncs back and forth between the gypsy as well.
Sean says
It’s a full blown replacement for DS. It’s made by a completely different dev team from scratch.
Sean says
It’s flash based. So it won’t work on IPad, at least not for now.
Sean says
Has tons of new features that DS doesn’t as well.
Sean says
It’s definitely mac compatible.
Janeane says
Sean, thanks for all the great comments!

Will CCR replace Design Studio ?
LIBBY says
Really looking forward to this!!!
Janeane says
Ellen,
No. From what I understand DesignStudio will continue to be developed and updated.
Ruth says
It sounds great, but will it really be FREE? I’m hoping images will be a little larger. My old eyes have a lot of trouble seeing the icons on both cartridge overlays & my Gypsy.
Becky says
Will the downloadable version still be free, or will there be a charge for it? I am a new Cricut user and excited to do more with it. Since I have experience with Adobe design products I prefer designing on the computer rather than at the machine!
Cathnoon says
I am looking forward to this, roll on April.
Julie says
I’m sooooooo excited!!!!!! PLEASE HURRY!!!
Janeane says
I agree Julie… there is a LOT of excitement about Craft Room! 🙂
Jeanie says
If I have this figured out corectly, it seems that this would work exactly like your Gypsy, but with a much larger screen. Am I correct? I can hardly wait.

Can’t wait!!! I’ve had my gypsy for a couple of months now, and I take it everywhere!!
It will be nice to see your project virtually on a larger mat!!AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds great!
I think the free download will make so many people happy, but if there is one available with a download, I will definitely want to purchase it!
I am so happy I bought my Imagine and Gypsy, especially since the latest update Cricut released yesterday.
Thank you,

I just got a Design Studio up and running with my new Expression. I think it’s pretty awesome. One thing bad is the waiting each time for it to load, so I am looking forward to trying Craft Room.
Jenn says
I am super excited for this software. I can hardly wait until April!
Kelle says
I have been a Provo Craft and Cricut fan since the first Cricut was released 5 years ago. I currently own 2 expressions, a gypsy,an Imagine, and over 150 cartridges. I like the idea of the software being compatible with all of the machines, but I do not like the fact that you have to be online in order to design. This limits me and I would much rather have an updated Design Studio software program that I can run anywhere I travel. If you are not intending to make a stand alone software program then please consider updating the Gypsy to have all of the same capabilities as the Craft Room and make it work seamlessly with the Imagine.
It is nice to see that Provo Craft is busy developing and creating new tools, but I would love to see Provo Craft support the products that are currently on the market…the Imagine was promoted as a great new tool that would work with the Gypsy….I am still waiting (over 6 months now) for that to become a reality.

Hello,
I’m very new to the Cricut world. My husband bought me the DS a few weeks ago, I haven’t opened it because I had stumbled across this page before. Should I be taking the DS back or keeping it and using it at this point?

I am so going to love this program….c’mon april

I am curious about the use of an image you can “design” but not cut. What would the purpose of designing an image if you can’t cut it? I was just about to purchase design studio, but after i saw this craft room thing, i am not sure.

I/m waiting to buy a gypsy or ds till I see how this works.Like the idea of having the large screen of my laptop to work off of. I assume you will need a usb cord to connect your lab top to your cricut machine, are they going to be readily available and reasonably priced?
Nicole K says
I don’t like this idea at ALL! You have to rely on having internet access AND being able to either have a gypsy OR connect your whole computer to the cricut. For those of us with space issues, or not having amazingly big scrap rooms, this is horrid.
I don’t have a lot of cartridges, but I have a feeling provocraft isn’t trying to do any favors for people who don’t run out and buy cartridges all the time. :-/
Nicole K says
It sounds like, if it works as promised, it’ll be an online design studio.
Nancy says
Love the idea of Craft Room. Can’t wait. When will it open?
L says
I’m concerned that this dangling carrot will disable any cricuts that are connected to the internet from using 3rd party software. Will it? Is there an ulterior motive here for all cricut users to connect?
G says
would love the ability to use my own designs by importing them into the software without the need to continually purchase cartridges.
Crystal says
I also have reservations about CCR being on-line. Websites freeze and crash, and I would not be happy if that occurred while cutting on an expensive piece of paper! Or cause me to have to “come back later” if the site crashes when I am working. My time is limited to create my art and don’t want to be at the mercy of the site. I am happy to purchase an improved program if it were made available.
What I want is an updated Design Studio that does the things they are putting into CCR plus give us the ability to cut using True Type Fonts, custom designed images not included on a cartridge (sometimes I just need a shape…a simple shape, like a tree) and most Cricut images are stylized and not necessarily what I want at the time.
And Cricut doesn’t have cartridges to cover every possible event! I have a cub scout and want to use scouting shapes, so being able to use a third party program has been the answer for what Cricut lacks. Would love to see aspects of third party integrated with DS, but unfortunately Provo Craft wants the third party softwares to go away. I understand their reason, but being able to only use the cutter with only their cartridges is limiting to my needs. This is why I will probably replace my Cricut with another cutter when it eventually dies.
Perhaps PC could consider offering a license to users who want to use 3rd party softwares so they don’t lose so much when their images are pirated (because it does happen).
I can only hope that CCR is over-the-top amazing! My imagination goes way beyond the cartridges and I want to express that through my art and scrapping. I do use cartridges…currently own 35 and growing.
Thanks for understanding! I truly love my Cricut…maybe too much?
+C

I use Design Studio and am able to “design” using all of the cartridges…sometimes I use that to decide if I want/need the cartridge….kind of a shop before I buy thing.

I SECOND THIS. MAYBE INSTEAD OF SUING THE THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE COMPANIES THEY SHOULD HIRE THE PROGRAMMERS TO CREATE SOFTWARE FOR THEM.

I think everyone missed the part on the video where it says that after you design your item you then go to the Cricut “store”. I’m just guessing that you will be paying for individual images. This is not so bad except that Cricut is STILL not listening. It is SOOOOO frustrating. As one person commented above, we want to use all of our True Type fonts and create our own designs. I would HAPPILY (are you listening Provo Craft?), HAPPILY pay Prove Craft for such a program. I own two Expressions and close to 50 cartridges but I still want the freedom to make my own designs. I also agree with what one poster up here asks….will this disable the other programs we all have installed? I’m betting the answer is a resounding yes.
PB Rhoads says
I can’t wait for this and hope it does everything it says. I just got the Imagine and since I’m not proficient yet and don’t want to waste a lot of ink and paper this would be a super tool. Can’t wait for it. Just what I’ve been waiting for. I have the software now but really would love to have this tool.

I use to have the expression and used the design studio every time I cut anything. I decided to buy the new Imagine and was very disappointed to hear I could not use the design studio with it. Even though I do have the gypsy. So when I heard that you were coming out with an online design studio I was very happy and when I found out that it was going to be free I was ecstatic about it. Thank you.

I just got my imagine and can’t wait for ccr. I have a gypsy but don’t care for it. Mat too small. I have cds and love it. Since cds isn’t compatible with Imagine, this will be a great tool for me. Can’t wait!!!
Sarah M. Traub says
will we ever be able to buy downloaded cartridges from this sight? Cheaper then boxed or packaged cartridges? Just a thought for you all we could all save money without the packages and it’s green cricut’s favorite color. Then we would not have to drag all those boxes and papers everywere. All cartridges will come with automatic registration so you all will know what we bought and did not for any future problems. and tah dah automatic rewards too 😉 Youve used several of my other ideas why not this one too??? —the person you all should really hire for ideas and inspiration

I hope it is as great as it sounds…very anxious

Thank goodness I was worried. I thought it might get phased out as well and I love DS and want you to continue to update it. I’m not big on data storage in the clouds but I know it’s all heading there.
Darla says
Ok, I’m confused ………are they saying I can create an image, MY own image….(which now becomes MY image)…….but I can’t cut it, or I have to pay for it…….wth………no wonder 3rd party software is winning, at least they care what the consumer wants. I too love my cricut, but if they mess with my being able to use that 3rd party…….I’ll be shopping for a new cutter! I do have lots of cartridges, mats, etc……but there are just some things that aren’t ON a cartridge, regardless of price!
Rachelsmum says
I’m looking forward to this, I find my Gypsy soooo frustrating as it’s so small, it’ll be so much easier to grab an image and resize instead of pressing a button!! Fine control with the stylus is almost impossible. I would love to see Provocraft develop a way to use their cutting machines with a computer without the restrictions of using cartridges. Instead of fighting these companies producing design software they would attract more buyers if they developed their own. I know a lot of consumers here in the uk are turning to independant cart free cutters. Provocraft you are missing a trick here.

Sounds great. Do you link your cartridges to your computer, or do you have to have the jute box? Can you design, then transfer it to your gypsy ?

When? We’re waiting for!!!!
Sarah M. Traub says
I’m a little confused to the cartridges we own “link” to the Cricut craftroom? Like the Gypsy or is it more like the Design Studio were you just tell it what you have? If they do link does that mess with placeing them on a gypsy? Any range of when this will be available? It’s April and I’m already worn out of trying to test to see if it’s available every 5 min…he he…are we all going to jump on at the same time adn bust your website with overload?
Sarah M. Traub says
I really want to be able to design sometimes without my gypsy…but what if we don’t want to use our gypsy but you gave us the free 5 cartridge PROMO…will you all make the promo & gypsy cartridges we HAVE NO CARTRIDGE FOR..be able to cut without having to haul laptop and gypsy..another words what if I own those cartridge downloads but just want to use my PC and not my gypsy PC and machine…HOW WILL YOU ALLOW US TO DO THIS????

When is this program going to be available?

I think this is about the best innovative software that Cricut has designed. To offer it to your customers for free is saying a lot! I can’t wait for it to become available, I know it will become a big part of my crafting life. I’m sure with the addition of this software, and the ability to use my computer screen to design, I will get 100% more out of my Cricut machine. Thank you Provo Craft!

One of the things crafters have been wishing for is the ability to use files and fonts from our computer. Will this be available with the Craft Room?
All in all this sounds like it will be a great tool.
CraftyCass says
I am a BIG ProvoCraft fan! I should have a job with them!! I own paper cutters, Gypsy, (2) Original Circut Personal Cutting Machines, Cricut Expression, Cricut Imagine and EVERY cartridge to date…I also use CDS and…sad to say, I had to resort to a third party software for TrueType Font cutting. I do A LOT of cutting and I need FONTS. I mix and match fonts to create logos and various other artwork for businesses, school projects and personal use. I think the online CCR is a GREAT idea; however, folks should realize…YOU STILL have to own a cartridge to cut from CCR. That means, if you use the CCR and pick cartridges you DO NOT have; cutting becomes only a dream!! THAT IS HOW I UNDERSTAND IT….correct me please!!!
I also think that while CDS is an awesome product; it’s slow. There also needs to be a version for the MAC…personally, I’d own them both…but I really would like to be able to move everything to my MAC – we all know that the Micro$oft OS is NOT stable!!
Keep the fun stuff coming ProvoCraft….
Rosann Palasciano says
I have problems with my design studio too and all the calls to PC do nothing!
Nan says
Hi this is great, I hope it will come soon in the Netherlands
kind regards Nan
casdan says
When will the Craftroom become available date wise please.
casdan says
You have a serial number on the base edge of your box, just follow the instructions on the Rewards webpage to input the serial number.
casdan says
Ooops forgot to mention that you won’t get reward points for those that you purchased before the rewards came out…..if i’m wrong then please let me know.
Phyllis T./Knitgirlll06 says
I am late to the party but I can’t wait to work on my Scrapbooking layouts. Thanks for creating yet another great creative tool.
Shy says
So glad you finally recognized that people with Mac’s scrap!!!
Becky says
This is absolutely wonderful!! I can’t wait until the release date. Very very excited.
Teri Maudlin says
I am very anxious for the new Cricut craft room software. How exciting. Let us begin…..
April is here. How much longer?
Teri Maudlin
Shastadasi says
This looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun!
I can’t wait.
Esther says
I can’t wait!!! Should be another great addition to the Cricut!
Lisa knight says
This looks very exciting I am looking forward to being able to create on any computer at anytime from anywhere. Also like the ability to create on a larger screen for the imagine. This will open up lots of new creativity. I love it.
Joyce Hall says
I’m so excited about this new program. I have the expression and Imagine and love working with both machines. I will be more creative and waste less paper working out my designs on the screen before printing/cutting my project.
Jeanie Bailey says
OK….it’s 04/11/11, and I just can’t find a place to log in to the craft room. Do I go to Cricut.com?
Amanda Costanzo says
I’m very excited about this program. Can’t wait to try it out!!!
Jacque says
How do we get this and when in april? (It’s april now!!!!)
Lianne says
O Where O Where is the Cricut Craft Room??? Anyone know when in April it is coming out? Its 4/13 and can’t find it….
Carmen says
I’m checking every day for the Cricut Craft Room, and I still waiting 🙂
Kristin Lieb says
Do NOT buy Design Studio! Yikes, it hasn’t been updated in years. My hope is that the craft room isn’t as slow as the message boards. Otherwise, I’m looking forward to trying it.
Deb says
But it’s absolutely worthless if we don’t have internet? What about those on dial-up? What about those who use it in places that internet is not accessible. What a joke! Once again PC, nice try, but you shouldn’t have complete control over your users.
Regina says
I don’t like the idea that PC has all rights to any work created on CCR. What gives with that? You can now get designers for free. No thanks to that.
Melissa says
I won’t be using this. I don’t like the fact its web based. I do most of my designing when I’m waiting for kids at their various activities and there is no internet available. I also don’t want to lose the ability to use my 3rd party software (which I LOVE!!) and I have a feeling this program will ensure that I do…
I love my cricut, I love my gypsy, I love my SCAL and I love the cartridges I own…I won’t be changing how I craft…
Carmen says
For me there’s really no point in having this if I still need all the cartridges in order to cut a shape. Can I cut what I create with this, since I don’t have my own shapes on cartridges…?
Lorna says
I agree I will not be using this, It still limits us in what we can do with our Cricut. I do not want to connect to the internet every time I want to try to design any thing. Love the ability to take Lap top and go !! Love my SCAL and MTC. and the cartridges I have, but to have to connect, NO way they are going to control my cartridges either. I purchased them, That is why I never purchased a Gypsy. They still have control over my cartridges That I pay for. I am currently saving for a different cutter, Then I will not be held prisoner by PC.
Ruth says
If I can’t cut anything that’s not on a cart that I have…what does this do??? Nothing!!!
Linda says
The CCR still does not go far enough to allow users to create and cut anything they want, anytime they want. It still limits users to the cartridge designs and to the availability of an internet connection. ProvoCraft should have worked with the 3rd party software companies to truly give consumers what they (the consumers) want. Since purchasing the Expression, I’ve found it is a very limiting machine. Then I found MTC and my creativity knew no bounds. I’ll stick with MTC.
Carol Jones says
Well…this is all well and good but what do I do with the software I purchased! I may or may not try the website since I do have the design studio software. My daughter will not be happy to hear about this since she just purchased the design studio.
Joann says
If we have to register our cartridges, what happens if we want to later sell them or give them to someone? Sometimes you buy a cartridge for a particular use and then no longer need it. If it is linked to the CCR can it be unlinked at a later date? I love my Cricut, I love the cartridges I have, but they are mine and I don’t want them linked to anything that prevents me doing with them what I want. How will I loan them to my friends for a one-time use?
j says
I wish cricut/PC would listen to us! We want to use our own designs and true type fonts. I haven’t found many shapes cartridges I would spend my money on and most of the ones I like are older and hard to find. The new designs are not to my taste at all!!! I’m the mother of two boys and so many of the designs and fonts are just too “girly”. My cricut is, very sadly, sitting in it’s box because I am a military wife on a VERY strict budget and I can’t just run out and buy a new cartridge whenever I want (even if I was finding ones I like). I’m tired of the cartridges I do have because I have used them on so many pages. Don’t get me wrong, I love my cricut, I just love it! but it’s not meeting my scrapbooking “needs” so I am researching a different machine that allows me to cut the images I design for my home business, my children’s school logo, my husbands military insignia, etc. In the mean time I am keeping a journal of all my ideas to scrapbook when I get a different machine, or when Cricut finally comes out with a design software that allows me to make the scrapbook pages I see in my head.
Valerie says
I love, love, love this. Even away on business I can play on my laptop and create so when I go home it is ready to print/cut. My next purchase is the expressions and I can’t wait. Thanks Cricut I love your products and it makes my crafting so much easier.
Jan says
I have had the Cricut Design dtudio now for a couple of years. It is absolutely worthless. It takes forever to load and then when I go use it, it is slow and usually jams on me. That was a wasted $60. Then I bought SCAL. Being able to use my own fonts made me feel like I was in heaven. Spending $90 on a cartridge with a few fonts was just not in my budget. Then I did a trial with MTC and fell in love all over again. I just wish ProvoCraft would have worked with Andy instead of being “sue” happy and taking away his dreams and our ability to be creative. It is so nice to use graphics on the internet to create a simple cut file rather than spending “more” money on “another” cartridge with maybe a handful of images I could use. I used to like my Cricut but after purchasing my Silhouette SD recently, except for the size, the Silhouette’s cut is much more superb over my “Expression.” I am sorry, but I don’t believe I will be using this program anytime soon! We are limited to your creativity, not our own.
Alice says
I’ve been designing and cutting in Craft Room for weeks now and love it! And, it’s totally free! Somehow, it makes my Expression cut better than it every has. I can’t wait for the beta testing to be complete and the final version to be released!!!
pigtailpat says
Anyone who uses CCR has to have their heads examined. The terms of use point blank says anything you make on CCR is the property of provo craft, it doesn’t belong to the user who creates. Provo craft, I really truly hope you can be big enough to admit you made a serious mistake by suing .mtc and scal, now you are going after a magazine that has done nothing to you other than promoting your products. I have not used my expression since April, 2010, after obtaining another cutter, and I probably will never go back to using it – because I would rather not have “big brother” telling me what I can or cannot do with a machine I purchase with my hard earned money.
winmill says
Hey where can I find the terms of use? IS it really the property of PC?
kathy vetter says
Let me understand your issue. You don’t have the Internet, or you only have dial up. I see that can be a problem. So if I understand your post correctly, you don’t think people that do have these modern conveniences should have an opportunity to use a product like this. …. You don’t think think this FREE product is any good. IT’S FREE !!!!!!!!! Thats like complaining about not being able to watch TV because you don’t have cable. So do you think Provo Craft shouldn’t design anything for the BILLIONS of people that DO have the internet?
Listen. If you don’t have the internet, or your connections is slow,,,, use Design Studio. If you only have a MAC, use a Gypsy. Those options have been available to you for quite some time. Why are you complaining that there is nothing for you?
You are crazy. No one wants to invest in reverse technology. The Dinosaur products are there for you: Design Studio and Gypsy. Use them and stop complaining.
kathy vetter says
oh, goodness .. I look at this as just another option. I’ve got SCAL and Design Studio too for when I’m home. I was bothered that DS was only for PC, but I loaded it on an old PC and used it for a bit. I gypsy everywhere, finally something to occupy my time when waiting. Love it !! you cannot deny that a bold bright screen is better on us with older eyes.
Gee whiz …. if you’re going to bother to hook up your computer to use scal,,, you’d be just plain silly not to give this FREE program a try.
Provo Craft is a little slow on many things,,,, but how can you dis this product before it you even try it?
kathy vetter says
Carmen, there is a point. With this software, you load the cartridges only once. They are stored and available with a mouse click. Without it, you have to load a cartridge every time,,,, or connect unending chains of juke boxes. It is quite a difference.
I’ve read a lot of posts that people are angry that they have to still buy cartridges. I don’t understand this. The program is free. I’m just wondering, how can Provo Craft to stay in business if they give away the cartridges too? There are so many options for buying cartridges, I have about 25, and have never paid more than $30.00. All these complaints about them being expensive? Not true.
I’ve been following Provo Craft for about 2 years,,,, it is true that they grew too quick, and are lacking in many things. However, I see this as an effort to support their customer base, and I am anxious for it to be active.
Cathy says
Can’t wait will probably be using it all the time!
Colleen says
What a joke! I mean really…I can see absolutely NO benefit in using the Cricut Craft Room! You people are going to eventually work yourselves out of business.
Donna says
This will be a great thing for me. I am new to using my cricut & can use all the help I can get & the easier the better. Free also adds to the greatness of it. I hope to visit quite often. Good luck with this site & may it be a success!!!
Donna says
I thought this was going to be something great, but after looking at some of the comments, I have mixed feelings. It sounds like there are issues! Until I find out more, I probably won’t be using it now.
Debby says
I agree with Kathy you are complaining about a product that is FREE!!!!!! You don’t even know what it does yet and already you have bad things to say about it. I personally can’t wait for this to come out it is going to make using you Imagine much more functional so you can weld and move things around mat and size things like in design studio. I say bring it on I can’t wait. I say if it is not for you than don’t use it but stop complaining about it and get a life
kathy vetter says
According to Cricuts FB page, they have been inviting a few 1,000 people at a time to begin using Craft Room. Monitoring how much traffic it can take. PC isn’t know for it’s lightening fast technology, but obviously following a careful test pattern before they throw us all out there. Very smart. It’s going to get crazy heavy use at first. Hope it doesn’t have too many problems. The cranky cricketeers will ruin all the fun.
Seems like they are going to a lot of trouble and expense to offer this free product. Thanks PC 🙂 can’t wait.
Judy says
April is here and I haven’t heard any more about how we access the craft room. I watched a video and they seemed to be putting in some sort of password, etc. Where does this come from. Also you stated the software will be out in April. Do we have to buy the software? My understanding was it was a “free” craft room for those who with Cricut. I may be mistaken, but would like to know how we access the craft room. Went in to it today, and I just saw comments and video’s. Not any way to utilize it. Please help!
Thank you
winmill says
pretty rude to complain to her complain, I understand you are upset with her, but be nice!
Jeanie P says
Hi, I just bought a Gypsy on Black Fri. what is the difference in the gypsy and CCR? I know Gypsy is hand held and CCR is internet based, but what will CCR do that gypsy won’t?
Elizabeth Parham says
Oh this just looks like the best thing since sliced bread ! I am a brand new Cricut user, and own the v1, so I am very excited to see everything the Cricut craft room can do for me ! I’m so happy to see this come out, and it just demonstrates that Cricut REALLY cares about their customers !
eileen ramspacher says
Can’t wait for it to be available!!!!! It’s going to be so much fun to try out all the carts in color~
kauaimelody says
Looking forward to this tool. I welcome the challenge of learning new concepts and applications. This is an awesome oportunity to kick one’s creativity up a notch . Best of all, I don’t even have to budget for this . Cricut Craft Room is another way to enjoy our cutting machines. Eager to start crafting with this.
Teri says
When will this be available?
I sure am interested in this as I am dis-abled
and a shutin. My Cricuts and computer are
all I have to keep me going day to day now.
Many thanks for any and all information.

Leslee says
I downloaded CCR, but couldn’t get access. Message was for “beta”. I’m a Cricut.com member. Could someone explain why.
Thank you!
Lora says
Not impressed by what I saw in the video. I have never found much of anything I would cut on a Cricut cartridge and only bought my machine after SCAL offered me the opportunity to design and cut my own files. CCR still limits a persons creativity – you can only cut images created from Cartridges that you own. SO, even though CCR is free – I’d have to spend hundred, or even thousands of dollars, on cartridges in order to create something. And, then, according to how I understand the terms of use, PC would own the rights to my creation.
I’ll pass.
Deborah Bee says
I can hardly wait to able to use this. I was not going to purchase the new cricut but now….WOW…i’ll be able to work so much quicker. i will be watching HSN.
Thanks.
i saw a lot of bad publicity on the internet about the court battles. with the craft room being free, i hope the nay sayers will rethink purchasing from provo craft.
Jennifer Wood says
I can’t wait to get this. I’ve been waiting and waiting to see how I can use my Imagine cartridges and my other cartridges together. I particularly like the fill feature and hope that it works well with my other cartridges.
I’m ready….send me the link to download it.
Darlene Duncan says
Hi, I take my hat off to you. I finally got my INVITE April 18, and as of today it will not accept my password. I have emailed them several times, but no luck yet. I can not wait till I can use this program.
janet says
Please send me link to download it Janet
sue says
Where are you?
pigtailpat says
Yes – TOU can be found here: http://www.provocraft.com/company/legal/terms.php
if you go to the ccr site: http://www.cricut.com/craftroom/
scroll down, click on the little “legal” link – it will take you to a number of links and you can find the TOU page that goes to my first link above.
It point blank says anything made on PC’s site is the copyright and property of provocraft.
Sure it is free, but anything you make there is NOT yours. PC can turn around, take your design, and sell it as a cartridge to thousands of people. That’s a big price for “free.”
glorya nevius says
I just used CCR for the first time, and I was so excited. I had the options set for my old baby Bug, and hit CUT. The darn machine thought it was an Expressions, and the blade carrier was trying to go across the cutting mat for 12″, though it was only 6″ wide. When it finished the cut, it tried to go back across 12″, which meant it spent several seconds spinning it’s internal gears. I’m afraid I may have started stripping some gears, and I am leary of using it again.
Advice please!
Renee says
Hi YA!
Ok First Is this out yet? I cant find it on the net! and 2 I dont know which one to get debating an CE2 or the imagine? I have A Cake and a CE both i use all the time. I live in New Zealand so getting any cricut stuff is really expensive and time consuming. Thanks.
Rose says
(1)What is the fee? (2) Where do I go to sign up for this?
Thanks
Brenda Woods says
When can I do it and how Let me know I cant wait!
Aliss says
I understand the software is free to use but lets say I want to use a design that is not on my cartridge, do I have to pay for the design I pick from CCR or will that be free as well, and can I upload it to my Gypsy? It seems too good to be true if the answers are all yes. I hope it is all free!! 🙂
Jeanie Bailey says
Still waiting…….(April 27th) Has this started yet? Where do I download the software? I am really confused. Am I understanding the “language?”. Is there something to download? What’s going on???? Is anyone able to work in the “Craft Room” yet?????
Jeanie Bailey says
How in the world were you able to use the CR, when so many of us can’t find our way in?????
Sandra Anthony says
Just cant wait to be able to use this software very exciting, please hurry and get it to us over in the Uk.
glorya nevius says
Ummm… I got an email from ProvoCraft to try out the BETA program of CR. But I believe the beta download is on the Cricut website?
Suzanne says
Exactly when will the Cricut Craft Room be available to download?
Jeanie P says
I was really excited about this, but to have MY images become property of Cricut????????? I don’t know now.
ginabina says
JA!!! I think this is just a thing to get people to keep buying products(carts)They say it´s free and is really not because you still have to buy the images you use. I don´t mind buying it because nothing it´s free in this life so here is an idea to Provo craft Cricut. Keep the program and make it downloadable to ones computer BUT make the cartridges available on line to also download for a faction of the retail price.
this will really be awesome!!!!!
Phyllis Ford says
Looks like lots of questions and few answers here. I’ll add to the pile – when, oh when, will CCR be made available to us peasants out here who have been watching for it since we first heard about it months ago? I downloaded the “link,” but it says I haven’t been authorized “yet.” Good grief, people, what the heck???? I’ve spent literally a couple of thousand on Cricut/Gypsy machines, cartridges, add-ons, and whatnot. If I didn’t love it already – would that be the case? How about being honest with us. What is going on? In English, please. Just the facts – when, where, and how? Waiting impatiently but expectantly – your groupie, Phyllis!!
Phyllis Ford says
Suzanne – send up white smoke if you get a response! I’ll do the sasme!
Phyllis Ford says
I feel and share your pain, Jeanie. Lots of questions, very few answers. Feels like a scam, doesn’t it?
Lili says
Amazing! Can’t wait.

donna says
okay..April came and went and now we’re in May..hello..can we soon get into the cricut craftroom? I think that they should not annouce it on tv when it’s not available just yet..why promote if you cannot give what you promised months ago?

Katherine says
My Cricut cake comes tomorrow! But I have no access to the Craft Room!
Can anyone who has access say how long the waiting list is? Should I wait or just purchase the DS software so that I can get started?
suzanne says
Did they mention in which year that this is being released?
Cin Price says
I received a email from Provocraft today stating that everyone has access to the CCR but yet when I attempted to enter the CCCR I keep getting the message that I have not been granted access! I’ve paid good money to join the circle only to be disappointed again by Provocraft. They have good products just need to be better on customer service. Don’t waster you money on the circle!
Caroline says
I hope it’s worth waiting for
Carol says
Where, oh, where, can the CCR be,
Where, oh, where, can it be?
I have waited so long,
This is just so wrong!
Somebody, please, answer me?!
Carol
I fear that even when the CCR is open to everyone, I will still not be able to use it because I have an Imagine and an Expression2 and I don’t think the CCR will be ready for these 2 machines. Ugh!
Janeane says
Carol, I can’t say when it will be ready, but it should work with your machines.
Brenda says
while on this site it ask that a comment be left about the cricut craft room. How could one leave a message about a online site that will not give access to use it. We are almost in the middle of the month of May and still no way to use the craft room and I have noticed on some of the women are getting the to rooms confused. The Circle of Friends you have to pay and pay a lot of money I would never pay for that and then the other is the Cricut Craft Room. While the Cricut Craft Room allows one to play around with your cartridges or the other ones that you don’t own yet. They will be offering you to purchase the ones you don’t own or items from some to the cartridges without having to buy the whole cartridge at least that was what I was under the impression and it will be just a select few. The other would be to purchase from the craft room. If they aren’t cheap enough like the ones you can purchase else where on line and some stores I won’t be buying from Craft Room that is for sure. I wish they would have it where you pay a certain amount for the article your working on in the craft room instead of buying the whole cartridge that you might not want or use. It might be to there benifet to offer that oppition they might make even more money off of us that way. Just like the silhouette studio has it set up. You have the machine and you pay $.99 for each item you want to cut out and it saves it into your account so you may cut it again or later. Or pay a members price at different levels offering more die cuts. Like $18.00 a month gives you $150.00 worth of die cuts that you can pick and choose. That is the way to do it and it keeps one from haveing store the cartridge boxes and have to buy a binder to hold the over lays and booklets etc… I wish at this point more than anything they would just let us on to try it already. The second point would be I wish they had surveyed what the cricut customers would like they said they did for the Cricut Expression 2 limited edition.
Lanie Moore says
Well, I must say it is some what disappointing that the Cricut Craft Room is not available yet. However at the same time, I fully understand how development of software is and that most of the time, it is a wild stab in the dark as to when a program will actually be completed. As I have heard many times in my career as a programmer, the key to keeping the customer happy is communicating with them what is going on. Provo Craft has left us sitting in the dark for 2 weeks now, with no communication as to the progress or a new estimated completion date…some type of communication would be nice. 🙂
Julie says
Is there a new release date for Cricut Craftroom? Why is Provocraft not responding to all the questions regarding the availability for the CCR? People are waiting and frustrated by the lack of information. Are you listening PC?
Carol says
oh, that is great news, thank you, Janeane!
Dutchiegirl says
Hello,
I do not want to miss out, when is the cricut craft room coming out?
I own the Cricut machine and the Gypsy.
Need to learn the Gypsy!
Dutchiegirl
Linda says
So when is this going to be available to us?
Janeane says
Linda, that is a good question…I can’t answer when it will be available, it is way over due though…
I am sure they are working hard to get it up and running.
Eileen says
Not only is the Cricut Craft Room late at being launched, but the design center was supposed to become compatable with the Imagine soon after it was launched. Still waiting! I spent $90.00 for the design center and was so excited that it would work with the Imagine soon. I purchased the Imagine during the big launch on HSN back in SEPTEMBER and gave my little Cricut to my daughter. Now I have to borrow it back in order to use the design center, but can’t use my Imagine cartridges with it. Having to be invited to the Craft Room is not fair either, but then again it also does not work with the Imagine so what’s the difference. THEY NEED TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER!
Gertrude benton says
This is going to be awesome will it be ready soon? I want more things to use my 3 machines for . I just got the gypsy and the cricut 2 is great.thanks for keeping your scrappers happy and busy!
Teri says
When will this room be available for all to use?
So very anxious to be a part of all the great things being offered
to all of us Cricut Lovers.
Connie says
I’m sorry that I spent the $$ on Cricut software, now that it’s available free.
Jeanie P says
I am still thinking about buying software. Especially when from what I understand, once you create an image on ccr it becomes pPC’s property. I love the thought of ccr and I amn sure it will be GREAT.
Jeanie P says
I wonder just how alike CCR and DS are?
Carol says
I check every day just to find CCR,
Or word of a new release date,
Come out, come out, wherever you are,
Or at least let us participate :-).
judy says
I was sent an offer to try the ccr. I have tried over and over to access it, but it will not recognize my email login. Any solution? Will this replace Design Studio which I was going to rebuy after a computer crash took my copy?
Rosemarie says
Thank you very much for this new helper. If it does all you say, it will be a wounderfull tool.
When can we get it?
Elizabeth Kinzie says
I have loaded the most recent version of the Craft Room. When I try to run it I get a message that says “you have not been approved for this beta version check back later” so when will the Craft Room be available for all the eager new Cricut owners? What am I doing wrong?
suzanne says
So here we are in June still nothing you would think that they out of common courtsey they would inform you as to what is going on but, just to be left hanging is unacceptable! Even if they would say they don’t know when it will be available would be fine but this really is BAD business pratice and a real turn off.
Cathy says
As everyone before me has said “where’s the Craft Room?” It is frustrating when you see all it can do but you can’t access it. I think if it will not be ready for awhile you should pull all the advertising for if off the internet. Maybe that will stop all the frustrating comments. Good Luck!
Caroline says
Hi don’t by a new copy. Just get in touch with [email protected]
explain what happened
They will explain what to do next.
Rosemarie says
Waiting….I would like to see the ways it can help me!
Chris says
It tells me I can’t use it….. what’s up with that
Cindy Phillips says
why have i not been granted access for this. Everything is downloaded but it says this. Also I have another question…..as the owner of over 50 cartridges……I would like to ask that you guys make available “Pink Journey” to all who want it. My friends and I are doing a scrapbook for a friend of ours who is has been diagnosed with inoperatable brain cancer. We have been trying to get this cartridge at a reasonable price and we only find it on Ebay selling for anywheres from 100.00 to 130.00. I know you have to buy the pink expression to get this however, we all have cricuts and expressions so we dont need another machine. We were hoping that you would re-consider and make this cartridge available and give the proceeds from this cartridge to the Cancer Society. What a wonderful way to give back to the many women who buy your products and to your community. Thanks for listening!
Carrol says
I’m a lung cancer (stage 3b) survivor agreeing with you!
dorothea evans says
Will I be able to use all my great SVG files from the internet with this Craft room and how do I get access to the Craft room?

I DONT REALLY THINK THERE IS SUCH A PROGRAM, WHICH MAKES ME MAD BECAUSE I JUST LOVE ALL MY PROVO PRODUCTS, I HAD BOUGHT THE ORIGINAL CRICUT A YEAR AGO, AND NOW JUST BOUGHT THE EXPRESSION CAUSE I FOUND OUT HOW MUCH MORE I CAN DO WITH IT, I MEAN I USE IT FOR QUILTS, SCRAPBOOKING, CARDS ETC, ETC ETC I JUST LOVEEEEEEEE MY MACHINE SO I THOUGHT THIS CRAFT THING WOULD BE WONDERFUL, BUT I CAN NOT GET IN TO SEE IT. I am very DISAPPOINTED. WHY CANT I GET IN CAN U HELP ME
Ann Taylor says
I have been trying to get into Craftroom and it tells me the same thing. When is this going to happen or is it just a joke.
Ann Taylor says
WQell it said it will be ready in April. It is June can someone tell me what happened to it.
Terri Cannell says
I just used the online trial version of craft room and it seems awesome! I haven’t used the cricut design studio, except for the trial version. I am having trouble installing the Beta version they offered me, on my Mac OSX, however. It says it’s not supported by the architecture?? What does that mean? I’d love to be able to cut something out from this Beta… otherwise, why bother?
Terri Cannell says
What am I doing wrong? Are you supposed to have your cricut connected when you install?
Shelley Myers says
what is this a joke? when are you going to release the craft room to the public. I have downloaded the program… it doesn’t work. It will not let me log on… I’ve been waiting since the news of the release in april of 2011 and nope.. Natta, not nothing available to me. Looks good in theroy but, let me see for myself..
Elizabeth Kinzie says
Bought the new Cricut back in April…saw this wonderful ad for Craft Room. Have downloaded several revisions…and still it won’t let me even TRY it! Waiting….waiting…waiting…it must be working
for the beta testers invited…what is the secret password to get into the club?
Brenda says
It would be nice if it was up and running been waiting for how long Cricut????????
Carol Jacobs says
I have been looking forward to this site for months–yes months! Maybe it would have been a better idea to wait till everything was up and running, instead of wetting our appetites for the Craft Room. I am excited to see exactly what it will do for us Cricut users. I do not get to use the Cricut as much as I would like, but, I do like to make cards. Hoping to get invited in the year 2011.
Virginia Donnelly says
when will the Circut craft room be released?
Barbara Wilson says
HOW DOES IT SYNC BACK & FORTH?
suzanne says
Here it is July no craft room, is there really a cricut craft room?
elsie says
Same here…I dont understand , we go and buy all their products and when we try to get in we have to be invited?? Have been waiting for so long> is not funny
LindaO says
I’m frustrated! Invested in the Imagine only to find out that I can’t create original designs – bought the Gypsy thinking that was the answer – it wasn’t. Now I’m told that it can be done in the Craft Room – but I can’t get access to the Craft Room. I still can’t do what I wanted to do when I bought the darn thing… now I realize that I can’t do what the less expensive models can do. I think I was mislead by the hype.
Sarah Goldman says
I think it is terrible that I and many, many, many other people cant get into the craft room program. I have 2 cricut machine, cricut design and I just absolutely love them. And was thinking of this new machine, but why bother when I cant USE IT. That is ridiculous why put out a machine people cant use. I cant believe the provo company would do something so stupid. I hope its available for people soon, and when it does come out I will think twice about buying the new cricut machine.
Sincerely

For some instructional videos go to https://www.mypinkstamper.com/ and click on the “Videos & Projects” bubble and then click on the “list of videos” and then hit CRTL + F and do a search for “Gypsy” and she has a few videos. You can even email her and ask her a question and she is VERY helpful.
Jean Crouse says
I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who can’t access the craft room. I was so looking forward to it. I suggest you work on that before you make any more new products. If it works, it would cause people to go out and buy your products.

Has anyone else had problems getting into the Craft room?
I get the message that I don’t have permissions.
carol says
I have tried for months to get into the craft rm. and I still NEED permission,,,I am disapointed that PC still has not fixed this problem
Crooked Scrapper says
That is the message that 85% (guessing, it could be more) of us get. At this point it is by invitation only. Provo Craft says it is still being tested???
JUdith Burkhard says
Is anyone from Provo Craft ever going to answer ANY of our questions concerning getting into Craft Room?
I have also tried for months to into the “Craft Room” and can’t.

I just purchased design studio and now there is a free site that will let me use ALL of the cartridges FREE????
Cindy Salomon says
I would love to get into the Cricut Craft Room to try it out. How long before I might get the invite to gain access? I have a Cricut account already. Please let me know.
In addition, is this access going to eliminate the need for people to purchase the cartridges?
It might appear that could be the case.
Thank you,
Cindy

I had problem with my design studio I called the 800 number cricut support group it was very helpful.
Jeanie P says
wish they would just sell CCR like DS. that way the site wouldn’t crash with everyone trying to access it.
DEB says
I too just bought DS and am a little bit peeved to think it may be the same thing free.. is it? What is this about? I was looking to see as a newer user if I could buy CUT files seeings that I can’t use the SVG files on sure cuts alot, ( which I never purchased but was about to) ..do you have to be invited to this site or what? A circle member? I dont understand how this all works..
DEB says
AH now I see the issue, PC needs a bigger computer and a better network connection.. at least the blog isn’t as slow, or seemingly as slow as it used to be. With all the graphics files going on of COURSE they are going to lag.. and be slow. BUT PC should know that for goodness sakes. Is there a place to buy the cut files or no?

Caroline says
Hi DEB
No itis not it only works on the crcut expreshion and the older lodels.
Rochelle says
I think this is a lot like the design studio i could be wrong but i think they should allow us to design our own images to cut. When i first got my cricut I didnt have any kids but now i have 2 and one on the way and i just cant afford to buy cartridges which even with this program you still need them. i had a couple but when we were building our house we put our stuff in a storage unit and they all got stolen so i had to start over. and i had kids by then it sucks to have to buy them all again especially because i can not afford to keep buying cartridges. they need to make a cartridge with tons of images and fonts on it or offer them for a lower price because i dont ever use ever image on the cartridges i do have. even if they offered a program online that you could use all the cartridges but charged a yearly fee to use that was reasonable i would condsider that. even
Susan Kilbourn says
I think that it is just si neat that you will be able to do all of those things with cricut crafts room is the a place you have to go to get the software from.
Myrtis says
I have put it on both of my computers and it seems to run pretty smooth. My question is …..How do I put my carts from my Gypsy to craft room? I have a lot. Is there a manual somewhere? And does it disable my carts on Gypsy. I still like its mobility. What kind of cart. purchases can you make online and do you also get the package when purchased?
I love my cricut and related products.
Thanks

I really wish CCR had the ability to let us make our own designs. Some of us are very creative and have that perfect IMAGE in our heads. However, with my IMAGINE, my IMAGINATION is limited to Provo Craft’s designs. I would be willing to pay an annual membership fee to make my own designs. Also, They should allow people to design with CCR and purchase a one time use for the pieces they need, like $2.99 per completed design if they don’t need the entire cartridge. I guess paying $500 for the machine and $70 per print cartridge for IMAGINE wasn’t enough for Provo Craft so they have to charge up to $80 per design cartridge when I might only need 1 of the 25 pieces for one time use. They have made it to where you can’t possibly afford the thousands of cartridges they have made. Let’s say you find a deal at $30 per Imagine cartridge… and you only want 100 of their thousands, that’s $3000 Come on Provo Craft, surely you can do better than this? Make it affordable and sell more product!

I am having problems with layering. For example if you get your image at 3, when you get the layers, they come out bigger than the base image and you have to manually sized it to the base, when you do a cut from your machine and set to a size everything cuts to fit…
I don’t know what to do, I love the CCR , but i haven’t been able to do this steps right. Anyone knows what to do? I tried a video instruction I saw in YouTube and was doing it with the lady, and still did not work for me.

Can anybody say me, what I do wrong.
When can I use the completly CricutCraftroom? (Not the Beta-Version)
Thank you
Caroline says
Hi I have the beta version and it works fine . Try to uninstall it and then reinstall it
Caroline says
Hi Elsie I havent Tried to do that with this craft room. I will have a go. If you have a gypsy it may work.
Caroline says
Hi elsie
I have tryed to do the layers on the ccr and if you do your first imag.
Then you marry up the second layer on top and pick one section on it and in larg it slowly to what you think is ok.
And do this with all the layers.
I have do it with the hello kitty.
If you have three peaces in one peaces just pick one in the three and the others will marry up fine.
hope you can understand it.

Is cricut planning on coming out with any software similar to sure cuts alot or makes the cut that would allow users to create their own images for cutting using scale rather then using only cricut cartridge images as a base? If I already own a gypsy what perks would the craft room have over it?

When you go on to the craft room in the left side of the page bos it have beta.

Using the Expression Machine with the Design Studio Software:
I found that when I put my new laptop to task with the Design Studio using Windows 7 I was able to send projects to the Cricut faster. The extra processing speed improved the download to the Cricut. this is horrible!!!! i can’t finish any project without the program crashing! 🙁 i’ve wasted several hours today trying to create different projects to print and cut on my brand new imagine and i’ve accomplished nothing. every time i reopen the program after it crashes, i can’t open any of my saved projects and have to start from scratch. this is beyond frustrating! i’m thinking of returning all of the cartridges and imagine. i was so excited to buy this product (i’ve FINALLY saved enough for it) and it has been nothing but a let down and a frustrating experience. 🙁 this product costs too much to have such inferior software.

I am unhappy due to the fact that I can”t use the cricut mini that I bought from HSN. So now I will have to return it. I waited on hold for 47 minutes to talk to someone who could help me. In the end she did not have any answeres. So if you have a solution to this let me know.

I would like to know this too! anyone know? It says in the description “You will be able to link a Gypsy to Cricut Craft Room, or if you do not have a Gypsy you can link your cartridges to CCR using the USB cable and your Cricut machine.”
so how does one go about linking the gypsy to the cricut craft room?
please advise. thank you!

I own a Gypsy, Create, Expression, and 62 cartridges including the digital 2 included with my Gypsy. All my cartridges are linked to my Gypsy. I am chomping at the bit to be able to link them to CCR!! Do you have any kind of a time line for that major improvement? I feel like a huge carrot is being dangled in front of me, and I just can’t get to it. 🙂
(Everything can be compared to food, by the way!)
Jennifer says
I have been trying to figure this out all day! I thought I was going crazy because it clearly says you can link your Gypsy to CCR, but I have found no information on it. I guess they are still working on an update to allow us to link the Gypsy (according to some investigation on forums and such)…hopefully it will be here soon!

I can’t use my Cricut Create at all after trying to download the Craft Room firmware. The firmware won’t successfully download and it has harmed the machine. It won’t work with my cartridges or in the Craft Room. This is a huge defect in the system. I’m thinking of returning the machine for a refund. It worked before I tried Craft Room. I’m VERY frustrated and disappointed.

Love the idea but it would be nice if it actually worked. I’ve loaded everything and can’t cut. HUGE waste of time.

I had the same problem and am a first time Cricut user. I then downloaded a trial to the DesignStudio and it changed the firmware from 1.61 back to 1.54 and it worked again.

I had this same issue and it is very frustrating. I saved my work, exited the program, and then went back in and was able to click on cut. It also gave me the error that I needed to insert the cartridge into my expression, which it already was. So I just pushed down on the cartridge very lightly and it recognized it. When this program works, it’s awesome; however, it’s crashed on me a lot! Like I said, I just exit and go back in.
Robin says
Anyone know what cartridges are free with Cricut Craft Room? I know the Cricut Craft Rooms Basics is free, but I thought there were two free cartridges when you downloaded the software. Anyone know what the other one is? I don’t want to do a trial and error as it’s too time-consuming. Thanks!

i understand from a tutorial and a friend that your cartridges can be stored in the CR.She said it is not necessary to hook your jukebox into your computer.Your cartr. will be stored in the CR.Too bad.I just bought a jukebox and I feel that it won’t be as time saving as the CR.Maybe just for small familiar projects. Also the Cr by passes the prompts on our machines.I think I will learn more about the machines and why I have mechanical problems before I try to tackle the CR.But wow!I love the welding and sizing of letters. Will relieve some stress and frustration!!!!Hope this is posted.

I recommend buying your cartridges on Ebay. I have over 60 now and my average cost per cartridge is about $22.00 due to auctions. My favorite sellers offer free shipping, and that is a big plus when you live in Alaska like I do. Try it! Craft-e corner and Proudparents are my two favorite sellers.

I buy most of my cartridges through Proudparents also and have just purchased almost all of the Imagine cartridges from $7.60-$13.50 each! I got the Imagine for Christmas left over from Walmart Black Friday for $187. I am so excited! I started out 2011 with 10 cartridges and now have over 60. Craft-e-corner & HVcrafters are also good. Hoping to try the Craft room soon!

I’m having problems with Cricut Craft room and with my cridit connecting to my computer. I have changed my password, uninstall and reinstalled CCR, but still cannot login!! My Cricut will not connect to my computer. I last used CCR and my Cricut on January 5, 2012 and now 2 days later (after I have purchased paper for a paying project!!! UGH!!) If it ever worked it would be great. It keeps comming cricut bridge application has unexpectedly quit and it goes off. When it will open it just will not print and cut on my Imagine.?? Now my Design Studio will not work with my Imagine or Expression 2!!!
SUSIE WELCH says
Yes, I am also having that problem! I printed some really pretty pics from the Imagine collection, printed fine, then when it came to cut it acts like it is going to cut but it just spits it out. Wasted a lot of paper and ink around Christmas…..me too, I just want to use it!!!!

I don’t know if this issue has to do with the craft room, or another problem.

Don’t even think of trying CCR with a PPC iMac. The site ways it works with a PC and a Mac. NOT TRUE! I figure about the time Provo Crafts law suit against Microsoft (for failing to write satisfactory software code) winds it’s way through the courts, there will be a bright, up and coming company with a new machine and the software that really does what it promises.

Holy macro! I was SO happy when I saw this little site (almost as happy as the day I received the Cricut Expressions 2), as I thought this was a great way to be able to cut. Boy was I wrong! It seems like it would be fantastic if it ever worked. I have fiddled with this thing for hours already, and the time I spent on it, I may as well have hand-cut all my projects!
I downloaded all the drivers/files, etc, and was able to design a project, however, when I go to “cut”, I am allowed to select my Cricut and that is all. The screen goes back to the previous screen and doesn’t seem to link to my computer. Has anyone else been able to get past this point?
This is a very expensive piece of equipment to sit in the corner and collect dust…

Thanks for this VERY IMPORTANT tip! I’ve been trialing the Cricut Craft Room for almost a year now and ran into this problem many versions ago. When I tried to use it again today, the firmware update to v1.61 locked me out of everything. Backing out to v1.54 is the only way to go. I think that Craft Room will be great when all the bugs are out, but right now there are still to many to effectively use. It’s frustrating that a company would release a product like this for general use with so little user support.

I’m just now seeing this post, so you may have already contacted Provocraft and received assistance. I had the same problem with my Imagine spitting out the mat when it should be cutting the design. I called Provocraft and they had me look at a set of numbers on the “About” screen. I had 4 zeroes where there should have been other numbers (Ex. 3444.0133.0000.9845). They determined from those 4 zeroes that the cutting software was not downloaded on my machine and I had to send it back for a replacement. If you haven’t contacted Provocraft yet, you may want to so they can walk you through the steps to determine if this is the same issue.

I’ve been using CCR for a while, no problems. I bought a new cartridge by selecting the ‘Buy’ option in CCR. I know I didn’t dream it – I got a message during the purchase process that I would be able to cut with my new purchase immediately. Well, I cannot. It still wants me to insert the cartridge. Can’t ‘link’ ’cause I don’t have the shipment yet….. Of course, it’s Saturday evening and PC is closed!

Here’s the link. No big deal, you just have to do the download and it takes several steps, very well instructed, to set up your machine.

I completely agree with you on everything you have said. Why don’t they just listen to their customers. I have actually considered selling my machine to get one that is compatible with Sure Cuts a Lot.

Hi,
Was just wondering if anyone else has the same issue as me.
When I weld in Craft room, if I weld 2 pieces together that have contours inside them, sometimes the little contour shapes will randomly disappear or ‘grey’ out. Then they don’t cut. Any help on avoiding this. None of the overlapping edges are causing this as they are clear of the inside contours.
Thanks Jo

Is anyone else getting an “error” message when trying to use CCR? Mine is telling me it cannot connect to the internet — obviously, I’m able to connect!!
Things worked perfectly yesterday! I have a project deadline!! HELP!!
Thanks, Erin
Heather says
Hi Erin,
Are you using the Imagine? I have had several problems with it and when I called Cricut support she told me that they had a bunch of calls about it not working with the Imagine. Especially if you have several projects saved. I erased a bunch of projects I didn’t really need and it worked really well.
Good luck.
Heather

Hi Julie,
They got rid of it. Not sure why other than wanted us to link all of our cartridges to the CCR, that serves as our “bookmarks”.

Major issues here!!! Purchased My cricut e2 around christmas, wanted to use it with scal2 or even design studio or craft room, Hooked it up and got it connect just fine except it wouldnt send to cricut to cut, it was saying install usb drivers on scal2 and design studio said usb out of date or not properly installed. i saw nothing about installing usb?? I read the whole getting started book and found nothing. i called cricut help line and after many attempts to help me she had me send it back to be broke down and sent me a new one. When I recieved my new one last week, I have tried all weekend to get it connected and it says failed to install drivers (this is just plugging it in to my laptop) so I did troubleshoot and it said couldnt locate drivers to install. I finally called again today and they informed me that e2 was to updated for cds or ccr and I told her that made no sense to sale something people cant use. I told her I still wanted it fixed to work with my computer bc there was still an appearent problem that it wouldnt connect it kept telling me failed to install new drivers. she was saying that bc the cricut 2 was to updated it wouldnt work with anything not ccr nor cds. and bc of that I had no need to connect it to my computer until there was a update on cds, I told her that even though my cricut snyc doesnt even see the machine is hooked up and turned on, forget the cds and ccr I wanted my machine to work with my computer bc I have scal2 I can use and she just cont. to say I couldnt do anything about the drivers? What else can i do… this doesnt seem fair that I have a machine that wont connect to my computer. regaurdless of what program I am using it should still connect. makes no sense to me. Can someone else explain this to me bc I feel that just hooking it up, even if I only used cricut sync for updates it should connect and if not there is a problem. if it wont connect now why would it connect when cds has a update in the future?

I’m new to the Cricut word. Love it! I just linked my Cricut to my computer and also linked one of my cartridges to the Craft Room, but the Cricut will not cut unless the cartridge is plugged in. When I linked the cartridge it did recognize it and linked it. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Do I need to have the Design Studio to remember my crtridges?

Saw a new update for Cricut Craft room came up on Feb. 19th, so I decided to try again. Updated the Craft Room, then was told to update the firmware on my Create. Couldn’t get anything to work. Read a note here to turn everything off and start again. When I did that, I at least got to the ability to cut, but CCR wouldn’t recognize that I had the cartridge loaded. Noted in this blog that someone said to just try pushing on it one more time. Still didn’t work. Still can’t get paper to load, use the CCR or anything else. Fired off another feedback letter to Provo Craft!! I’m heading back to the Design Studio to back out my Create firmware to v54. At least there I can work with the machine alone.
If anyone has suggestions, the same problem, or any other comments on this matter, I’d be glad to hear them.

Hello everyone…..I was scrapbooking with family today and when I was about to go into Cricut Craft Room to cut a title….it would not allow me to do it. I also went out of the program and
it made the suggestion that I had a broken file and then it would not allow me to get back in ….so I have now uninstalled the program and hoping to reinstall again but I cannot get anything to work……will wait patiently and hope the bug is worked out so I might be able to
play once again…..thank you!!

FINALLY got Cricut Craft Room to work with my Cricut Create.
HINT: I’m using Build version 132 of Craft Room and v54 of the Cricut Create Firmware. When going to cut in CCR and you’re prompted to update your firmware to v61, skip and cut anyway. It actually WORKS!! I’m quite excited after all these months and hope to play around enough now to gain some proficiency in using CCR.

Hi Lorraine… I just bought a Cricut mini yesterday and I was having the same issues… I called and got them to help with that issue… basically the buttons that you need to hit on the website have disappeared this week… if you go to http://www.cricut.com/craftroom and then you hold down your control button and then the “a” key at the same time, it will highlight the entire page and then you can see where next to the download instructions are two faint buttons. One says PC and the other says Mac they are on the right hand of the screen. Luckily for me I finally got it downloaded… but unfortunately, it won’t let me log on. I have called customer support 4 times and then I have had e-mail correspondence with a support agent of approximately 10 e-mails and all they could tell me was that they can get into it fine… So… looks like Cricut is getting ready to lose the money I just spent on this machine, and now I wish that I could take back everything Provo Craft I have purchased since they can’t seem to get their “stuff” together…
Jennifer says
I finally spoke to a different customer service person on the phone once again after posting this comment, and she let me know that they are having an issue with the Craftroom software and that is the only way that the mini will work. She suggested that I wait for the software update (with no release date in sight) or return my machine. I am going to opt for the later. I also called an informed the manager of the Hobby Lobby that I purchased the machine at of the issue. Because apparently the software is only working on a very small handful of the percentage of machines being sold… I also suggested to Provocraft that maybe they should consider pulling these from the shelves until the issue is resolved so that customers don’t lose confidence in the products they are purchasing from them. But, just so that everyone is clear, I was told by provocraft to return the product since the only software that runs the machine does not work. And, please please please do not… under any circumstances uninstall your antivirus as I have done. I now have no back up and it was all due to bad information from their customer service. I am not saying that this might not work for some people (a small percentage) however, until they get their software right you are just going to be “trying” to get through the loopholes in bad software configuration. I would of felt much more confident in them if they could of even given me a release date for the update, but she even said that there is not one planned. Now I have to figure out what to do with my 8 cartridges since I got rid of my original machine… UGH!!!
Ro says

OK this just s&*%s…… The ads say cartridges and the Gypsy can be linked. Cricut Mini and the craft room are just another example of getting the cart before the horse. If we as consumers can think outside of the box and into the future why can’t Provo Craft? It’s VERY simple GREED! The fact that the mini works only with the craft room and the craft room is not, at the very least, functional is just another hand in our pockets. I have 4 different machines, the Gypsy and a multitude of cartridges, geezmos and gadgets . I love what they can do but if I have to switch cartridges in and out because I can’t link them, they are already linked to my Gypsy, it isn’t worth the time and frustration……. mines going back! I learned the hard way Provo Craft doesn’t put time an effort into fixing anything they just move on and leave those of us supporting them with useless junk. Shame on you for releasing yet another product that just doesn’t live up to your promises.
Judith Kerrin says
I have had an Expression before and now own a mini and an Imagine. I bought the mini because I was going to be away from home for 6 mos and wanted to use a machine while I was away. I own over 100 cartridges and 99% of them are tied to my Gypsy. I am SORELY disappointed that the ProvoCraft people have yet to live up to their promise to allow one to tie all Gypsy loaded cartridges to the Craft Room, thereby enabling me to use that which I have paid for. In November, it was to happen very soon. On February 13th, they announced: “Gypsy Linking to Cricut Craft Room™ is coming soon! This feature is currently being tested at Provo Craft. Stay tuned for more details to come on the ability to link all cartridges from your Gypsy device to your Cricut account in a few simple steps!”
Not sure what they think “soon” is but it’s been five months and they have yet to deliver. You need to consider this if you use a Gypsy and contemplate buying a mini for use at crops or otherwise away from home.
For shame, Provo Craft!
Malena says
I’ve been using the Mini with my Gypsy for about a month now.
Seems to work find. Only had one weird cut.
Don’t really like the multiple cuts/depth thing. It is confusing, not clear.
But it works well once you get past that.
Only bad thing is that you can’t cut with a cartridge you don’t own, unless you use CCR.

I have a question, when I used CCR and printed and cut a couple of crowns out using Once Upon A Princess Cartridge and Lori’s Garden for patterns, It worked great, but when I tried to used Once Upon A Princess later to print straight from the Imagine (w/o the computer) the crowns I used in CCR will not print or cut, you can see them when you select them but not on the mat in last step before cutting. Is there something I was supposed to do before disconnecting the computer and the CCR from the Imagine?
Donna Schafer says
I would be very disappointed in this if it’s free considering I paid for Design Studio. Is the invitation for those who own the program already and now can do it web-based instead of through software?
Tami says
It is is sad that the products do not work as promised. I am certian that are others like myself that are sitting on a bunch of Provo Craft products and equipment that they cannot use. Provo Craft, on behalf of all the Provo Craft customers, who are the ones who really sign your paycheck, get your act together, and make the products and equipment that you have already produced functionly as promised before we all jump ship.

Meistie says
FRUSTRATING is the only word I can use with the CCR! It’s like the little girl with the curl, “When she was good she was very, very good. When she was bad she was HORRID!”
Sometimes I can’t get the letters to the virtual mat, can’t get them to weld, can’t get them to size to what I’ve set, etc, etc. My screen doesn’t look like the same program that is used as a demo on one of the Cricut sites which seemed to be a better version of CCR. I’m not sure if Cricut actually looks at this blog, but holy cow!! they sure as heck SHOULD! Looks like the same issues happen time and again, so glad to see it’s not me that has issues! And SLOW!! Good grief I pull my hair out and wish I had just stuck to designing on my Expression screen by myself! They say to be patient, but this is stretching my patience to the point of giving up. What gives here????

I’d really like to use CCR for the $20 Halloween digital bundle offer, but it seems like the new build version 167, always crashes. The old build seems to be more stable. At least I could cut the word “thanks” from this build and not have to reinstall the new version. Anyone else have this problem?
terri says
I would love it if the CCR would offer some of the more popular items like the mickey head as an ala carte item – for up to $5.00 for liscened cuts and less for unliscenced cuts…SIllouhette has items you can purchase for their machine at 99 cents and this would make cricut a little more competitve with them… also wish there was a duplicate button instead of copy and pasting everything
Barbara says
It is a very difficult site to enter. Not very user friendly.

I agree with Meistie statement above. Seriously, my cricut imagine works only 12 percent of the time. It was a Christmas gift from my husband and kids Dec 2011. Did not really start playing with it until Feb 2012. I would prepare image, Cricut would color the image, but would not cut it out. 90% of the time the screen would just go blank and it would restart. Do you know how much INK was wasted. Seriously, this has wasted at least 12 days of my life trying to get it to work. To those that say blame the user not the machine, I say “lets exchange our machines” then you will see. I called Provo Craft so many many times, they basically said to update the firmware. Call back if you have more questions. Joke was always on me. Finally in August I got on the line someone who did try to help. He sent me a new cord. Took 3 weeks to get by the way. It did work fine for one day, without using the craft room. Today I decided to try the craft room, the Imagine did not work with craft room, called Provo Craft again. Update again. Oh please. Cricut Imagine is going blank again when it is time to cut. I am afraid that it is going to crash as soon as the warranty is up 2 months from now. Where can I get help???
Look at what the top of this website says:
You will be able to link a Gypsy to Cricut Craft Room, or if you do not have a Gypsy you can link your cartridges to CCR using the USB cable and your Cricut machine.
“Cricut Craft Room is the solution to many of our customers’ requests,” says Jim Colby, Senior Vice President of Product Development. “With this new software, anyone can design with our complete library and add their personalization by welding and manipulating our artwork on the virtual mat. Customers must own a cartridge in order to cut images from it, but they can design and get inspiration from everything.”
Mr. Jim Colby, you are welcome to my house to show me on my Cricut Imagine how this is feasible.

At the present time, I just updated adobe air and it will not even open. The few times that I have been able to get it to cut, it will only cut once, when I change out paper and/or images and go back to cut, it quits. Sometimes, it just gets frozen at checking mat status. Does this really work, when I go to SCAL, it states that it does not work with Cricut machines.
Janeane says
Anne,
Provocraft took SCAL to court over the use of their software on Cricut machines and won.
Due to this, SCAL is no longer supported on Cricut machines.
Anne says
Does Cricut plan to offer anything similar to SCAL where you pay a joining fee one time and have access to different cartridges. I just got my Cricut for Christmas, and had I known then what I know now, I would have asked for a different brand that would work with SCAl.
I have purchased a few cartridges, both digital and through Hobby Lobby, but there are still some editing issues I have. I would like to make the monograms that I see, but I can’t find a Cricut cartridge that offers the fonts I like. When I ask, they use SCAL. I really love my Cricut, but I want to be able to have more control over my designs and not have to buy a $30 or $40 cartridge to get just one design that I want.
What about College graphics, or Organization logos? Is there somewhere that offers these that will work on my Cricut Expression?

WoW! I have held off with the CCR due to all the problems with it being “new.” I have waited as I do not handle frustration very well. I admire all of you for your perseverance. After reading about others spending hours trying to use it – I knew I better wait. So – let me ask all of you – have they worked out all the “bugs” yet? Will I damage my Expression or my computer by trying to use CCR? I don’t feel very confident that Provo Craft would stand behind me if it did. Thanks!

So when you mention new….maybe I’m on a older version and that’s why it’s working so well.
