The Cricut Expression 2 is the latest Cricut die cut machine by Provo craft. This is to mark the 5th anniversary of Cricut, and the Expression 2 is said to only be available for a limited time. The new machine is sleeker and more compact than the expression and includes some pretty great new features.
The outside has an entirely new design which features a brand new, fully color LCD touch screen. With the Expression 2 LCD screen there is NO keypad, and NO overlays. WOW.
Share your thoughts about the Cricut Expression 2!
Mat Preview. With mat preview you can organize all your shapes and designs right on the LCD screen and see exactly where they fit on your mat before you start to cut.
Material Setting. Lets you store your materials setting in memory for all the different types of materials you like to cut.
What is the Same? The Expression 2 uses the same blades, blade housing, pens, and mats as the regular Cricut expression.
Cartridges: The Cricut Expression 2 works with ALL cartridges, including the Imagine cartridges.
Cutting Light: A nice feature that is unique to the Expression 2 is a tiny light mounted by the cutting blade that will shine on the mat and cutting area. This can be great to help illuminate your working area in a lower light situation.
Exclusive images come already installed on the Expression 2, so you have content ready to go.
The Expression 2 is fully compatible with the Gypsy and the new Cricut Craft Room.
The Expression 2 Anniversary variety of colors!

Will it still work with SCAL or MTC? I have both programs as well as 60+ cartridges, a gypsy, and CDS – wouldn’t buy if I couldn’t use them all…
Deb M in BC :) says
Well, I do think the E2 is going to be awesome! It will take both the regular carts plus the Imagine carts too. But you can only cut, not ink print right? Whereas the Imagine, you can do both and just cut or ink print and cut. But the ink cartridges are expensive on top of the expense of the Cricut/Imagine carts. Hmmmm. I’m not sure which one I’d like better. Maybe it depends on the price of each. I know people prefer using just the screen, but I like the overlays and booklets to search for my images. Just my 2 cents.
sandi says
I am very disappointed to see this being released when there are so many issues they should be working on on the machines they already have out in the market. I purchased a Cricut Expression and barely used it before the Imagine came out which I bought as well. Then I bought a gypsy because they said it would work with the Imagine. They also said a lot of bugs were being worked out in the Imagine but so far there are still some major issues that Provocraft should be working on, before they spend time on a new machine. I also think they need to come out with more and better cartridges for the imagine as well. Most of them have rather drab muted colors and the designs remind me of the 1940’s & 50’s. I feel that their priority is to sell new machines instead of supporting the people who have already purchased them.
Lisa says
I already have the Expression and the Imagine. No way I’m buying another machine. What’s the point?
Janeane says
Pasquel, It does say it will work the the gypsy and CDS. Not sure about SCAL or MTC though.
Jan says
I agree with Deb, I too prefer to look at the book to pick out my images. I own the gypsy and pretty much just use it as a reference tool. I probably would not invest in another machine just to have more bells and whistles. I also think that most of the new carts are too cutesy.
Nancy Little says
I wish it was out now. It is great and I love all the new features!
Vic says
This is great, would have bought this if it had come out 6 months ago. Instead, I have the expression and a gypsy. love them both!
Caroline says
The expression 2 look fab but i have the expression and love it.
Amy says
If I did not own the Cricut Expression and Gypsy already, I would have considered the Cricut Expression 2. Sounds like Cricut Expression 2 is just Cricut Expression and Gypsy combined. I love my Expression (use it all the time) and just recently bought Gypsy and looking forward to use both to their full potential.
Janeane says
Amy, agreed. That was my thoughts exactly. Sounds like they’ve combined some of the Gypsy features right into the Expression 2.

Im super excited that the Epression 2 has a fabric function. I cannot wait for its release. I do have to agree with some previous posts that the designs are lacking some style. Most of them are a little too juvenile. Need to add maybe some primitive designs.
FG says
Way to go Cricut! I like this version and think it will be very useful. (to add to the other gadgets I already have). It does look like Expression and Gypsy combined.
Sherri Levinton Thompson says
I had the original Cricut, bought the Expression and the Gypsy (I have Design Studio but for me the Gypsy works better). I gave the Cricut to my sister who is a teacher, then bought it again because I was worried that when I traveled or taught a class I would need it. I did get the Imagine, and because of issues with my internet provider, can not get the downloads and the machine is just sitting…put I guess I can’t blame that on Provo Craft. My studio does not have overhead light and I have about 4 Ott lights set up so I can work at night. I am going to get the new Expression for the light but I will sell my current Expression to do this.
Bottom line…Cricut is the best thing since sliced bread and I am so addicted to it. I use mine everyday, and the Gypsy is wonderful. If you don t have one, go for the new one, but do make it a point of purchase if you scrap or make cards. I have 150 cartridges and I agree that many of them now are duplicates and a bit too cutsy.
This is still the best purchase I ever made!
Pam Knight says
I’m interested. I only have the small original Cricut. I’ve been looking at the Expression because of the 12″ mat………..and this comes along. I am defitinely interested. I like the idea that it used both type cartridges. When will it be available, and where can I purchase it?
Laura Weber says
I have had a Cricut since the 1st Saturday it was available. Even before that I had preordered it from QVC, then canceled when I could get it soon locally. Since then I have had a 2nd Cricut when they added numbers instead of arrows on the dials. Then the Create – twice – no 3 times as they had it on sale for $68.00 at an online store and I bought extra for friends. Then got the Expression the 1st month it was out. Got the imagine and sent it back. Really not my thing. The printing was not saturated at all and the ink ran if it got wet. Not for me. Also you had to keep calibrating it. Now the Expression 2 I am really excited about. I love the fact you can save settings and also that you can view the whole matt to see where it will cut. Even after 5 years and teaching classes, I can be surprised by where it cuts. Can’t wait!
Jan Wilkins says
I own the Expression, Imagine and the Cricut Create. I love them all and haven’t had any problems. I would purchase the Expression 2 in order to be able to use the Cricut Craft Room for designing, since I don’t own a Gypsy. My hope is that our Canadian Shopping Channel will also get the Expression 2 around April 26th, so I can purchase one here in Canada!
Janeane says
Jen, you will be able to use the Craft Room software with the machines you have. The Expression 2 is not required.
Cheryl says
When will Cricut Expression 2 be available to purchase and where?
Rachel says
where can you get the Cricut Expression 2
Margie Taber says
I like this better than the Imagine because you don’t have to buy ink cartridges that could get costly
But I do like some of the imagine cartridges also like the colored screen also being able to see the mat and the images.
I hope it isn’t priced over my head. I can’t seem to figure out if you will be able to buy the colors
or is that something that is interchangeable?

I have an Expression and one of the smaller machines. I still do not know whether it’s a personal or a create. I bought it on eBay a few weeks ago. How do you tell the difference?
I have only had my machines since Christmas, and I already have “collected” 30+ carts, some of them very high dollar limited editions I swore I could not have lived without when I bought them. I have not even used more than 5 of them, but I am saving up for Armageddon! Well, I love the Cricut and hope to use it a lot. I hope to use the online design studio. But, I just do not see why I would need either an Imagine or an Expression 2. I feel like a lot of others do. I have a ton of money invested in what I have now, and I would like to see the company put some more thought into creating new carts for the “regular” user in a tough economy. Why did they pull all of the limited edition holiday carts so soon? They have not offered any replacements in the line, really. This really made me mad, since I finally agreed to get a machine after months of infomercial watching in the middle of the night. It was a big decision. The scrapbook industry has taken a huge hit in recent years, and I hope they will keep it in mind that the people who are using their products generally do not have unlimited disposable income.
Janeane says
Great comment, I think your feelings are shared by many other Cricut users….
And while the Cricut Expression 2 has some cool new features, etc… if you are happy with what you have then just stick with it. 🙂
Janeane says
As of now it is not yet available.. it is just “announced”. 🙂

it looks awesome but i just upgraded from the baby bug! i’m not made of money. if it had some new type of mat that never lost it’s stick and never got those paper bits stuck to it i’d buy it today! but i think i’ll wait for the expression 3.

When will these be released for sale on HSN? I have never used that way of shopping and need to learn or set up accounts or whatever. When you are 69.5 yrs. old you need time.

I have the baby Cricut, The Expression, The Gypsy & Design Studio and will definitely purchase the Excpression 2 from HSN on April 26. I can barely wait!!

I agree with you whole-heartedly. They are mass producing items, but not perfecting them!

I agree!Have spent a lot of $’s and have many pc products,I have had problems with my expression and they still have not been addressed reguardless of how often I call.I have even been hung up on!I think pc should have a “trade in”program for for those of us that have invested a small fortune in this company!I also believe they should address the problems they already have before marketing more products-I hadn’t had my create 1 month and the expression came out-only had that a few monthes when the imagine came out-now there’s yet another new machine-I can’t keep up!niether can my wallet!I was so excited when I 1st bought my create(*which is still my favorite)so I became a circle member-paid for a year(very expensive in my opinion as you’ve already invested in the products which are very expensive in and of themselves)OTHER THAN A FEW CART. I find no other benifit for me.All the funtions and crops are way to far and to expensive to attend.

I think it will be on HSN the 26th of April

Could someone please tell me if the Expression 2 is going to be available in England? And when? I soooo can’t wait, was just about to buy the current one when the Expression 2 came up in a search engine. Am I glad I didn’t just shell out for what is going to be an older model in ONE month 🙁
Many thanks

I don’t think so. There is no way to connect it to your computer with a USB cable. I read all updates are done through a wi-fi connection.
Julie Millrion says
I have the cricut expression and love it. I do have the gypsy and don’t use it much. I do like the design studio now. I used to think it wasn’t much, but there is a blog I follow and she shows all kinds of way to really use that software. Since then I have been very pleased with it. I was never interested in the Imagine because it seemed like a cricut expression with a printer combo. I didn’t want that printer do so many creative things to my papers that I like to do. I like to add other embellishments.
I like to use my markers, chalks, stickers and so on. It seems like the Imagine took away so much of the creative options that people add. Besides all the cartridges you must have to buy to keep up with printing. Printing your own paper designs didn’t interest me either, I like buying my different papers, it is fun. To enjoy this craft, I didn’t think you spend more to take away fun. So anyway, I passed on that one. I love the idea of the expression 2 and the features sound wonderful, except the fact that it is Wi fi. With my sewing machine that has that, what a world of headaches that has been. As others have said the many problems and bugs being worked out still for them. That includes the problems with the imagine.
If I understood correctly from someone else the Imagine has the Wi Fi and it has bugs. Why can’t they avoid some of these things and have the USB connection to? I know some of it is because they don’t want you using those other softwares to get the files from the internet and use the other softwares to get them to your cricut, so they are gonna create as many barriers as they can even if that means it causes more problems for the people who use and buy their products. How does that seem to be a good thing?
I so agree with the so many who have said they have invested so much in what they go now. I am sure if I never bought another cartridge or machine I could make so many beautiful things with what I have. Maybe it would make a person even more creative by having to use what you have and spending the money on other things then a new machine every few years. When do you finally say this is enough??
I don’t know yet what I am going to do. I love the new features on the Expression 2, but don’t have any problems with what I have and really am thrilled and happy with what I have and what I have been doing with what I got. Okay, one more thing I want to say and I will end my book.
I am a sewer and worked at a sewing store, so upgrading my sewing machine every 4 years wasn’t as hard as it was for the person who didn’t have an employee discount, but what I learned it probably something that fits here. I kept one of my older machines and also had one of the latest machines. I found that the older machine with less features sewed better and made a better stitch then the newer one with the bells and whistles. I took this proof to the store and they didn’t want me to tell the other customers.
You know most wouldn’t know it because they wouldn’t have both machines. When I was talking with a person who fixed machines he said ” Well, you can’t keep adding things and it not effect others or take away from others”. That is exactly what it had done. The older machine was far better in my opinion because of the quality of sewing/embroidery as well as how the machine was made. Just something to think about.
Robin Jones says
Would REALLY love to Beta Test this too!!!
Gail says
No more machines for me, I have the Cricut Expression and love it not interested in the Imagine as the cartridges for the printer for my photo’s cost tooo much so don’t want to add to the expense by having to buy expensive cartridges for a new machine.
New knowledge is as only as good as its running costs and back up.
I would like to be able use my Gypsy on my Mac to be able to see the screen as it is so small and quite fuzzy.
Then I could use it to its best advantage and plug it in to the Cricut to do my cuts.
Too small a screen to be really useful in my opinion.
Karen says
There are a lot of bugs that have to be worked out and I think they should focus on the customer’s needs to improve the products already endorsed. I was one of those who paid 500 dollars for the imagine only to buy a personal cricut because the calibration was off all the time, I couldn’t afford imagine cartridges, I didn’t like the new mats and it was huge and clunky. Now that they have updated imagine and the gypsy I have pulled out the imagine and am encouraged with the updates. I will see. Yes fix what isn’t working before creating more products with more problems. However, all that being said, I LOVE THE CRICUT and the cool products.
Karen says
Yup!!!! Totally agree.
Karen says
I am with you!
KAY says
I think i will skip this machine. If it won’t hook to sure cuts alot or make the cut that takes away all my creative freedom.
Wendy says
I wish the Expression 2 would cut deeper. I would like to use it to cut chipboard letters.
Patricia says
How about an adapter for the Expression so we can use Imagine cartridges on it?
Mingo says
This new machine looks just like another “branded” machine that has been on the market for some time. This other machine has thousands of image options available for download. Seems like the same company makes the parts for the Cricut? Why buy another machine??
JanetintheJaw says
I have had my E since it first came out. At first, I was obsessed with collectiong every cartridge out there. I almost did it for the first two years. Then Provo bombasted us with so many new carts that I found it impossible to collect any more. I have quite a few carts that I rarely use and like others, find the newer carts more juvenile than what I would use. I use CDS regularly and love it. I have thought of getting the Gypsy but find it more costly than my budget allows at this time. Do I need a new Expression? Not really. I like the one I have. I am not too crazy about the touch screen. I have an iPod touch and am still getting the hang of typing on it!
Provocraft, thank you for developing a great expression, but really, who needs more than one? I would rather see the development of more carts or betterélonger lasting mats. I hate replacing mats all the time!

when will the cricut expression 2 be released, between the two which would you purchase the imagine or the expression 2, i have an expression thanks

I have read everyones comments and I agree with most. A 5th anniversary edition might mean more if there weren’t so many machines to choose from already. The orginal cricut, the cricut create, the expression (with all of the different colors available) or the pink edition with the pink journey cartridge which I think should be made available to all who want it, Breast Cancer Awareness is IMPORTANT and someone should not have to buy another machine just to get a cartridge!!! The cricut cake and all of its different versions already, and finally the Imagine except for the last they all do the same thing! And not to leave anything out there is Cricut design studio, the gypsy and now you are making cds obsolete with the Cricut craft room that is Free, to bad I already spent money on cds, guess the jokes on me. I will use my expression until it quits and then I may buy another because I cannot afford to get caught up in the latest and the greatest race.
Heidy says
How much wil it cost ?
Rachelsmum says
I too would like to know if this will be available in the uk – we are the poor neighbours over here when it comes to new machines – and everything is so much more expensive. I have the Create and a Gypsy and around 30 carts and would really love a 12×12 machine. The E-Craft is just beginning to surface here in the uk which has been attracting my interest but as I love my carts I think I’d like to stay with Provocraft. It’s a pity Provocraft don’t sell via ASDA in the uk (a subsidary of Walmart) I’m sure they would sell a lot more here then. I shall be watching this with interest. xsue

I have the Imagine. It is my first machine as I waited for one that prints and cuts. I love it! I did wish it would cut deeper so I could cut chipboard. I was so excited to hear about the new Expression 2 and thought I would buy it when it comes out so I could have an Expression that uses my original cricut cartridges and my Imagine cartridges.
I have been searching the internet to find if it cut chipboard or not and I guess this is my answer.
However, if it cuts material, that is a plus so now I am reconsidering getting it. Cricut needs to design an all-purpose machine, once and for all, perfect it and make all of their customers happy, happy, HAPPY!
Carol says
OK, I just found my answer and it DOES cut chipboard!
I copied and pasted this part of the Expression 2 description:
“Material Setting: Choose a default setting for materials you often cut such as cardstock, fabric, chipboard, etc OR customize a material setting just how you want it.”
Yay!
Brenda says
I will purchase the expression2. I already have an expression, a gypsy, DS and an Imagine. I have never been able to get my Imagine synced to take the regular cartridges. It would be an awesome device if it worked. I really think I would love it. I love my regular Expression. I also have over 100 carts. If I had nothing else to do in my life I would play with my cricut all day. I don’t want to lose the ability to use my SCAL. I love it as well. This is merely a tool to enhance the cricut. I just wish they would leave it alone. I love being able to use the fonts from my computer but I also use the fonts from my carts, it is just easier to use them from the computer. If they take that ability away, I will be looking for another source to use my SCAL.
I agree – they should perfect one before they release another. But since I teach classes on using the cricut, I will purchase it. The original Cricut is awesome and works great!

I have had my expression for about 4-5 years and just love it. It is used a lot I also have a gypsy and that took a lot to figure out to use and still does have glitches once in a while. I do enjoy all my defying machines and know they get used a lot I only purchase cartridges after really looking at them online first and then if I am doing special projects too. So as a result I own only about 20 altogether. Not a lot but thereissomuch to do with each one . The new machine looks nice and I do like the screen like the gypsy screen as well. Crafting in itself is very expensive so pick one machine and wear it out would be my advice. And by all means enjoy all the fun things you learn along the way. That is what keeps our brains young is all the new gadgets we have to learn to use! Cheryl…..scrapmom2

It’s going to be on sale on HSN April 26 & 27. Starts at midnight on the 26th.

Jan, I own the expression and the gypsy. If you are only using the gypsy as a reference tool, you are missing out on all it can do. I am not a PC rep, but I do own a lot of their products. I dont have the imagine, because I already have a wide format printer and didnt need another machine to print and cut. The gypsy expands the possibilities of the expression to a much higher level.
Sheila says
I too, love the new features of the Expression 2. Price will determine if I buy it.
Sheila says
I used to think PC did not listen to us, but I know on one of their many surveys, I mentioned I would probably buy a machine that print and cut, but I don’t own the the Imagine. I would guess they get their ideas for cartridges from some of its customers. I like you wish they would get away from the kiddy cartridges. Would love to see sports memorabilia, mascots, more real life looking stuff.
Sheila says
difference in create and the baby bug is the create has some of the same features as the Expression. The baby bug does not have any of the flexibility offered on the other machines, but great for someone who has children who want to practice
TJ says
I did hear someone say the Shopping Channel would have it, but i don’t know when that will be or the price. I also heard Cricut.com would have the regular E2 later on and they do ship to Canada.
paula vines says
I love everything cricut, cant wait to see the new Cricut 2, we have the imagine and the expression.
Denise says
The description of the E2 says it is fully compatable with the Gypsy, and my Gypsy has to be connected to the Cricut via a USB cable, so I would think it will have a USB port. Unless they can somehow make the Gypsy WiFi capable too. Just an observation. Guess we’ll have to wait to see for sure. I have the baby bug and Expression. I love them both, and will probably not invest in another cutter till one of these gives up the ghost. I love your observations!
Cathy says
I am totally excited about the new Expression 2. I have an Expression love it! Have a gypsy too also love it! Can’t wait to try the Cricut Craft Room it looks like alot of fun. For those of you that bought the Imagine what I saw in it was a very expensive printer. I never bought one because of the ink refill cost. But you have so much more freedom with the Expression and gypsy that the Expression 2 can only be better. I will be there for the preview on April 26th and hope to snag one.
Me says
NO Cricut will work with SCAL or MTC, anymore. ProvoCraft has sued them for copyright infringement, so they will no longer work with the Cricut. If you have a Cricut and use these software programs, DO NOT update your Cricut or it will knock out your ability to use these two wonderful programs. I use SCAL, as well as my Cricut cartridges. I wish Provo Craft would come up with something like these programs. The new Cricut Craft Room, is supposed to be a satisfactory substitution, but it is nothing like them and I know quite a few people who are buying other machines that work with SCAL and MTC.
scrapcat1 says
Hello, I have been reading all the comments and I too agree with most. I originally bought the cricut..6 x 12 inch one. Sold that to a friend and got the expression, then the gypsy. I also bought the Imagine and returned it… takes the creativity out of buying paper and putting my own designers touch on my projects . I love shopping for paper and embellishments. Plus with the Imagine at the time of purchase was told it would connect with the gypsy and it didn’t. Main reason I got it was to try it out with the gypsy. Cost of ink was just not worth it. I personally did some cards from it and saw a lot of the same cards being done the same way. I felt that it took away the fun of being creative. My personal opinion. So back it went.
So, now I just find out that they are coming out with a limited edition 5th anniversary expression 2. Well, first off… it sounds great, but I love the touch pad and browsing the books for my imagines. Maybe I’m old fashioned. So its a combo of the gypsy and expression… well I already have that, so I too will pass on the expression 2.. I just know they will make it sound like I need to have it…on HSN. But I will be strong. Plus I’m really happy with the portability of the gypsy and I love my expression. Finally getting to use it again after about 1 year due to moving etc and no craft room. Loving it. I also just purchased the two DVD’s on how to use the gypsy and expression, which I still need to watch. So that I can learn how to do what I don’t know yet. LOL…
I have over 55 cartridges and most of the new ones are just so juvenile, that I haven’t been purchasing them. I agree, why another machine, why not bring out better cartridges and not just the same juvenile cartridges. They are starting to all look alike and the varity just isn’t there. Also —–Why is it that they come out with an exclusive club and you get one cartridge per quarter at full price…These cartridges are exclusive just for those who pay. I joined for one quarter and got the “My Cricut is my Therapist” – I actually wanted the French Manor which they won’t sell to me. How ridiculous is that and the next cartridge I’m just not interested in, so will not renew for another quarter. Why make cartridges exclusive or unavailable unless you buy the new Machine or join an exclusive club. Come on Provo Craft.. we all want to have the option to buy all the new cartridges. I’m on a budget and its just not fair to me and other fans of the cricut that don’t have the money to join to get exclusive cartridges or to buy a new machine to just get the new exclusive cartridge. Not all of us can afford a club that you don’t even get a choice of which cartridge you can get. I am happy for those of you excited about the new machine and I’m interested in hearing all about it. I love my expression and gypsy and am happy with them. Who knows in one year there may be an expression 3, then 4 etc. LOL. thanks for letting me share.
Just to make more money. I get a lot of my cartridges on ebay or memory miser website. Otherwise they are too expensive.

I purchased the original Cricut when it was first released and loved it. To cut larger projects, I graduated to the Expression and LOVE it. I purchased my Gypsy and LOVE it (after taking the time to actually become a proficient user). I have many cartridges, some I love and use extensively and some I wonder “what was I thinking?” I purchased the Imagine (an impulse buy, like some of my cartridges– see below!), didn’t love it and returned it. I will be quite interested in the Expression 2 release. Before purchasing I will explore the E2’s new features and the Cricut Craft Room to decide if the E2 is actually worth the investment.
I don’t work for/ with Provo Craft, and don’t receive free promos. I am simply a consumer who adores their Cricut and Cuttlebug products. I have read a lot of criticisms of Provo Craft and detect a recurring theme in many. Playing the devil’s advocate these are my thoughts regarding those undercurrents of dissatisfaction.
1. Buyer’s Remorse: Don’t make impulse purchases – investigate all the pros and cons before you buy. I learned this one the hard way and still struggle occasionally.
2. Education: Learn to use what you have to its fullest capabilities before tossing it aside for its shiny new replacement.
3. Provo Craft is in a very competitive business: The list of paper cutting machines grows almost daily. While supporting the tools we have, they must remain on the cutting edge of technology. PC will fail if they don’t stay at the top of their game. I don’t want that to happen because I want the brightest, most creative people working to support and improve my favorite paper cutting/embossing tools.
These are simply my opinions, we are all entitled to them and we don’t have to agree. If everyone had the same thoughts, feelings, and opinions it would be a very boring world.
Have a great day and create something beautiful with YOUR favorite paper crafting tools!

wi-fi eliminates the need for cables and that is a good thing. now if provo-craft builds in a block on the SCAL that will be a problem.

I’ve read through a lot of the comments here and noticed that a lot of you have purchased both the expression and the imagine. I have one of the original Cricuts and have been eyeballing the Imagine now for about a month.
What I’m wondering is should I buy an Expression or an Imagine? What are the advantages/disadvantages? I’m curious what those of you have purchased both machines have to say!!! Please help…

I also agree, I have been a tad disapointed with the Imagine and not being to weld or move my images around on the mat before cutting. But supposedely the E2 you can do this on???? WTH??? why not upgrade the I so we can use it for everything

Does anyone know if HSN will have all of the colors? I just went on there and only the green shows up, but PC says its available in several colors…

Hi Cari I’m new to Cricut but I did order the Imagine when it first came out there was a lot of problems with it and the ink is expensive and runs and fast. Not going to lie Cricut would not help me with the matter e-mailed for 2 months it didn’t have manual, cutter and te mat would not stick, so I sent it back. I ordered the expression 2 and got it today. The mat is so sticky that it would not come off the matt with out ripping it to pieces. So I called Cricut and got someone the first time she was wonderful told me to steam the paper off and press it against a t-shirt to remove some of the sticky and she is sending me a new mat at no cost. With all that said, it is wonderful the features are amazing. Someone said it cuts material I don’t think so I don’t read or see that anywhere, I wish it did. So good luck with whatever you decide I hope this help alittle.

do the imagine carts have layer capabilities. so if I buy an E2, and cut with an imagine cart, wouldn’t it just cut a “shadow figure” on the paper I choose, or can I seperate its parts on the E2. I know what I have said doesn’t make sense……
PHarbottle says
I think I just read in the “Frequently Asked Questions” that the CDS currently does not work with the E2 anniversary edit., but the Gypsy will when you update it (gypsy) to the 0210 version.
PHarbottle says
In the “frequently asked questions” section of the Cricut E2 site, I read that wifi would not be available until the fall. Does this mean those of us that bought the E2 via HSN last week will not be able to update and use our machine ’til then? Is there a USB port on the E2?
Also, I get that “limited eddition” means “when it’s gone, it’s gone”, there is no more. But does that mean no more E2s, or no built-in carts will be available with an E2? I think inquiring minds what to know the answer to this too.
Nique G. says
That isn’t true wi-fi will come later down the line. Not only does it have a computer USB cable but is now extra long.

I have the baby bug, expression, gypsy, design studio, SCAL and MTC..My hub came home early and caught me watching the HSN about the E2….He asked me if I wanted it, of course I said NO my E works fine,Guess what I got for Mothers Day! an E2 !!!! I really didn’t think he knew that much about my cricut passion.I just got notice from Fed Ex that its on its way. I am SOOO excited. The new features look FAB.. I like the idea that there won’t be so much trial and error testing for image sizes. I never wanted to get the Imagine, and after reading the comments, I’m glad I didn’t. I too like to go pick out my papers. I am going to send my E out to my Daughter in California. The baby bug is still in my closet, I’m waiting for my next door neighbor’s little one to get a little bit older and then I will give it to her.

E2 does have USB hook-up. I have always used CDS E2 won’t work with CDS Craft room still not up and running:( So i am dead in the water. Does anyone have an inside scoop on when CCR will be launched?
Cricutcrafter says
I’ve got the E2 and love it. It’s the first Cricut I’ve owned. I also bought the Gypsy and am learning how to put the two together. I wonder how I lived without it for so long. I’ve been a Cuttlebug and Nesties person, but this…..need I say more! Whoa…… I’ve been a card maker up until now, but I’m beginning to think I could do scrapbooking after all!
Pamela Telgenhoff says
I think this machine is good for the limited use for which it is intended. It does the job.
Ann Taylor says
I have the cricut expression. I was thinking of upgrading to the Cricut expression 2 but after reading the comments I am confused. IS the cricut expression better than the anniversary edition.

I have the expression 2 and I love it just wish there were directions on using the different options the 2 has as there are so many thingas each product can do that is my only complaint.I hope you will be able to cut with the craft room very soon.

This website has talked me out of purchasing a CE2. So many valid points were brought out in reading the comments of others. I agree 100% too many models too fast. We buyers are not all millionaires like the CEO’s at Provo. I had no idea so many have had so much trouble with their machines. I ordered whatever model hit the tv first day it was introduced. I love that puppie. When the expression came out I did the exact same thing. My expression has been a love with no problems thus far in about several years. When I saw the Imagine unveiled I saw dollar signs for ink and when I saw the colors on paper I said a definate no. Just flat bad color. Glad I have stuck with what I have.
I agree Provo needs to slow down and perfect the machines people already have. I bought the Gypsy on day one when it hit tv. Sent it back because the little tiny tag with directions was a real joke not to mention the price was sky high. Well this year someone had Gypsy on sale for about $150. bucks cheaper so I then ordered it and bought the CD’s from a website and they taught me what to do and how to do. This is what Provo should have provided for free with the Gypsy.
The other thing that gripes me is that all this stuff comes from China. We are each sinking a whole lot of money in Provos packet and the Chinese pockets as well. Has any one heard BUY AMERIICAN the job you save may be your own.
I may take up Blogging yet.

Youtube.com has helped me with learning all kinds of tricks and handy ideas about the Cricut family. Just type in any cart, any machine and there a video to walk you through it. Have your cricut close by and some scraps to get the best out of the video.

I purchased the E2 at the launch in April. Does anyone know how to link the four cartridges that were preloaded on the E2 to the gypsy?
Judy says
Hi,
Hate to sound like a newbee, but I am! I bought the expression and love what it can do. BUT, will someone explain to me what SCAL and MTC are. I have never heard of these before. What do they do, etc. I also love my expression, and probably will not invest in “E2” as the pocketbook says, no,no!
Thanks for your help.

I bought the expression 2 with wifi wireless adapter from HSN. I plugged in the wifi, I see our network, but that is as far as I get. It says it is blocked and to talk to ISP. Anyone else have this issue? What do you do to get past this? Who do you contact?

Patti Cillessen says
I am trying to cut using material instead of paper. Can anyone assist me with ideas to cut it better? I am having to use material glue to get it attached to the mat, and still it will not stay as it should. Please help….
Cyndi says
Patti, I cut images all the time from fabric to put on my grandkids clothing that I make. I just finished making long pants for the girls and they wanted patches on the knees. I used hearts for one girl and the other chose stars for the patches on her knees. What you need is a product called
“Heat-n-Bond” which is made by Thermo O Web. You can get it at Joanns Fabric & Craft stores. It is an iron on product which gives your material some body and makes it easier to cut with the cricut or other machine. It is in the fabric dept. and can be purchased by the yard or you can also get it by the package of about 3 yrds. It comes 18″ wide. I use it a lot and it’s wonderful. You iron a piece on your fabric and then just put that piece of fabric thru your cricut to cut out the design. I find that if I take off the paper which is against the heat n bond before I put it through the cricut, it’ll work better, otherwise it can shift with two layers on the cricut. I hope this explains it good enough enough.

I just got the Expression 2 as a birthday gift and am soo excited to experiment. I still have my original Cricut that I will use for crops due to the small size. I am happy thus far. My entire home will be Cricut-cized. lol

I bought this on eBay for £400 with 24 cartridges!! i love it lots!! the only thing i miss is the simplicity of the baby bug!! much better cutting too… looooove it!!
Diane says
I want to know if you can cut material with the Expression 2. Like for instance, if you have a pattern for your quilt square, can you copy the pattern into the machine and have it cut the material of the image? Or are there just so many images in the Cricut that you can use?? Help!!
Brandrew says
Provo went after every company who made any software that allowed you to bypass the cartridge buying from them and sued them to stop making the product for the Cricut. Provo is making a bundle on the canned graphics. On that note there is the demand for users that wish to create with their own graphics. There must be some way Provo can allow this to happen and still keep their hands in our pockets. Maybe a cartridge the allows you to download your graphics you send to Provo so they can charge a small fee to send it back to your Cricut via the Craft Room software. Or, maybe charge a monthly fee for storage space to store your graphics you send to your account for download. This would be like a virtual cartridge. My alternative for now will have to be purchase of another cutter that’s not a Cricut.

Hello from one Vicki to another! Have you tried looking at Amazon.com? I bought the Cricut Gypsy on Cyber Monday and got a GREAT deal on it. Ebay could be another try. I have the Joys of The Season cart. I just got my Cricut in November but it’s been mostly viewing tutorials and trial & error! There’s a Winter Frolic Cart that’s cute. Depends on what your looking for. I’ve seen carts as low as $24.00 on Amazon though, give it a shot! Good Luck!

I have never used any of the machines. But my husband bought me the E2 machine yesteday. Ouestion is, what can you do with it besides making cards and scrapbooking! And where can I get some ideas?
Casey says
I was very disappointed with the Expression 2 and very rarely us it. Feel I lost my money. The worst and most frustrating is postioning on the mat. No matter how hard I try to get the machine to position where it will cut, it does not come out correctly. So easy with the Expression to position where you want to cut but the computer on the E2 does not work for me. Wish I had not purchased it but too late!
Chris Sawitoski says
I just purchased the imagine2 and I can not figure it out. I had the original cricut machine and that was so easy to use. Does anyone know how to change the size of the items I want to cut out?
Kat says
I can’t get connected to the craftroom. I have everything installed restarted the machines. Now I can’t find how to get to the craftroom. No Icon can’t find it on the craftroom page. Where is the the easy to use program?
Marge says
SCAL and MTC are illegal progams that have been discontinued by lawsuit from ProvoCraft. You can no longer use these programs (or at least they cannot be sold for the purpose of using them with the Cricut Cutting machines).

i just bought the circut expressions 2, preloaded and bought the Damask Decor cartridge, which i was told all the cartridges work with this machine and cannot edit it at all, anyone who has any knowledge of this problem and a solution I would appreciate it. If it will not work with other cartridges I am returning it. I got it at a good price but not if it only uses the 2 preloaded cartridges. thanks

I love my expression 2. i just wished i had more time to play
Theresa says
What type of editing are you trying to do? The 2 has all the functions of the expression (had it before I bought the 2), plus more. It isn’t as intuitive as I hoped but Utube has videos which help.

I had the same issue awhile back. Called their help line and she ended up having to enter some info for me (can’t remember what) and then I could get in. It’s really confusing so I’d suggest you call their helpline. They can work real time to resolve whie you are on the phone with them.

I know that I am going be having fun with all my mahines I am doing some magor scrapbooking very soon. Thanks all

I have the cricut expression 2 it woks with all of your cricut cartridges not just the preloaded ones the thing I like about the gypsy is that you can create words that are together not apart but you can weld them. Cricut expression 2 is very cool. please email me if yoiu need more help [email protected]
Tracey Bauman says
I had the same problem but if you go and play around with the postion button on the C2 I know I had to play around with it but before cutting you might want to draw to see where your image is I know I have more to play around with but good luck it’s tricky but if you take the time and not get to worked up over it I know you will get it I kn ow I did

i agree, ive been waiting for some primitive designs, crows, willow trees, salt box houses sheep cows pigs, primitive words or an alphabet, bees ect, havent made anything with my cricut really, am waiting for primitive designs, prim is hot, get with the program! had it ever since it came out, the ann edition! hurry up please!
R Mcclane says
why don’tcircut design work with circut expressions2
CJ says
No she may not…I have the Expression and it’s only 3 yrs old and I’m unable to use the Craft Room as you need a software v 2.43 on your machine…. my Expression will only update to v2.34 and I had to do that via the Design Studio along with support. Finally Support told me I couldn’t use the Cricut Craft Room with my machine. After working many yrs with an IT Dept. we never released new products that weren’t tested with all products previously released. This is a real breakdown in Provo Craft.
