Add-in for Excel to pull data from AS400

The Client Access Express Data Transfer Excel add-in has additional considerations
when used with Microsoft® Office Excel XP. Installing Client Access Express does not
automatically register the Data Transfer Excel add-in with Microsoft Excel XP. This
should be addressed in future Client Access Express Clients (V5R1M0 and later) to
automatically register the add-in if Excel is installed before Client Access. With
current Client Access Express levels (including V5R1M0), the add-in within Microsoft
Excel must be manually registered. Upgrading from an existing version of Microsoft
Office to Microsoft Office XP loses the Client Access Data Transfer add-in
registration, and it must be manually re-registered.

Starting with Client Access Express V5R1M0, the Transfer Data to AS/400 option was
added for uploading data with the Data Transfer Excel add-in. When selecting Transfer
Data to AS/400 in Microsoft Excel XP, you might receive error message CWBTF0084 -
The Data Transfer to AS/400 function is not supported on this version of Excel.
This error will be fixed in the V5R1M0 service packs following SI01037.

Assistance in manually registering the Client Access Data Transfer Excel add-in can
be found in the Client Access Express User's Guide, which is part of the Client
Access Group. This information can be accessed by selecting the icon or menu option
for Express User's Guide, select the Index tab, and type Excel.

Client Access Express provides a Microsoft Excel add-in for data transfer which
allows you to run download transfer requests from the 32-bit versions of Microsoft
Excel (Excel 95, Excel 97, and Excel 2000). To use this option, the Microsoft
Excel add-in must first be installed to transfer data from the host system to a spreadsheet.

If Microsoft Excel was installed on your PC before Client Access Express, the Client
Access Express setup program automatically installs the Microsoft Excel add-in when you
choose to install Data transfer Excel Add-in support. This support is installed during a
typical and full installation but may not have been installed in a custom or 5250 installation.

If Microsoft Excel was installed on your PC after Client Access Express, do the following:

1 Ensure that you installed Data Transfer Excel Add-in support when you installed Client
Access Express. This support is installed during a typical and full installation but may
not have been installed in a custom or 5250 installation.

    2 Open Microsoft Excel.

3 Click Add-Ins from the Tools menu.

    4 Click the Browse button.

5 Locate the path where Client Access Express was installed.

6 Double-click on the shared folder.

7 Double-click on the cwbtfxla file.

    8 Click OK.

Now you can click on the data transfer toolbar icon that appears on your Microsoft
Excel toolbar. You can also run a data transfer request by selecting Transfer
Data From AS/400 from the Data menu.

This procedure can be used with Microsoft Excel 95, Excel 97, Excel 2000 and Excel
XP to manually register the Client Access Express Data Transfer add-in.
