Review – Marvel Blind-Bagged Mega Bloks Battle Damage Iron Man

Line: Marvel * Manufacturer: Mega * Year: 2011

Last month we looked at the Marvel Blind-Bagged Mega Bloks War Machine action figure (review here), one of the eight figures in the first wave of Marvel Mega Bloks* blind-bagged action figures. War Machine wasn’t the greatest toy in the world, but between the chase and the toy’s size and look I decided he was fun.

And now, with this Battle Damage Iron Man, my impressions of the entire blind-bagged series don’t change at all. These are inexpensive, fun, and randomly-packaged toys and you should only go after these if you enjoy buying blind toys.

Not Much of a Review

Since this toy is basically the War Machine with different paint and a few different accessories there’s not much that we need to get into. The battle damage is simply paints apps — the sculpt doesn’t actually have gouges in it — but the effect works well and I don’t have any complaints with the toy. Seriously, these are simple $2.50 toys and as long as you get into the line not expecting amazing sculpts and insane articulation then you should have fun.

Is it Over?

Yeah, I really don’t have anything else to add. The blast accessories are cute, the paint is decent, and I find the $2.50 price point perfectly acceptable for what’s in the pack. This entire blind-bagged series seems to be selling well so we should see a second wave; I just hope the second wave has more variety in the character selections. Getting War Machine, Green Goblin, three Spider-Mans, and three Iron Mans isn’t actually the biggest selection of toys.

Where’s my Hulk and Thing?

Philip Reed really does need to take time to paint some of his duplicate Mega Bloks Iron Man figures.

  1. It’s funny, I was considering reviewing the Battle-Damaged Iron Man myself but as you know, I’d previously looked at the ”regular” Iron Man and as this is just a repaint, I don’t think I could add anything to what you and I said about the range before.

I’m hoping Wave 2 will include some more variation – there are Lizard and Doc Ock figures available already within the Mega Blok line, so it wouldn’t take much to introduce them to the blind-bagged range.

  2. @Iok – I’m thinking that the basic Iron Man will make it up, but mainly as just a photo review. It really is hard to find much more to say about a toy that’s almost identical.

  3. I really like these little figures and have picked up a few but wound up with 2 spider man guys and i found the paint on the heads to be awful on mine really sloppy but the articulation makes up for it with the price.
