HarpWeek Commentary:  This unsigned cartoon by Thomas Nast refers to Cardinal Wolsey’s soliloquy in Shakespeare’s "King Henry the VIII" (Act III, Scene 2).

Note the Dead Duck on Johnson’s medallion. Nast used that as a symbol for Johnson after Johnson used the term to describe John W. Forney, a Philadelphia newspaper publisher he detested.
