JetBlue Airways History

Jet Blue’s origins date back to 1993, CEO David Neeleman was the owner of Morris Airline. His successful strategies there brought him around to creating Jet Blue in 2000. Jet Blue Airways took to the air on February 11, 2000 with the inauguration of service between New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Jet Blue Airline tickets prices continue to cause problems for the larger airlines.

The low-cost carrier JetBlue Airways plans to expand its fleet by more than five times in the next few years and to begin flying to overseas destinations. “We are looking at various Caribbean locations. Our product performs very well long-haul, and the Caribbean is a very big market out of New York,” said John Owen, JetBlue’s chief financial officer.

JetBlue Introduces Passenger Bill Of Rights

The Valentines day snowstorm that delayed flights and had some Jet Blue passengers sitting on planes for up to 11 hours not only embarrassed Jet Blue but has moved them to create a Passengers Bill Of Rights.

Passenger Bill of Rights across the airline Industry have been talked about for years and with delays ever increasing it appeared that Congress was also moving in that direction.

JetBlue quickly seen the writing on the wall and realized that for them to have control over any Passenger Bill of Rights meant that the Bill of Rights would need to come from within the Airline and not in a legislated format.

What does this mean for Jet Blue Passengers?

Some of the Highlights of the Bill of Rights include:

Departure Delays:

1-2 Hour delays – $25 voucher for future travel
2-4 Hour Delays – $50 ———
4-6 Hour Delays Oneway future travel voucher
